Tomorrow it will be 10 months not smoking for me, and I am proud of myself. I smoked off and on for decades. In the beginning I used an online community to help quit.

Hi Jupi. I have smoked since i was 8 years old. I now am 56. I have quit numerous times. Now i am onto an e cigarette. I really just try not to think about smoking. I chew gum or eat cinnamon candy which takes away the urge. I takes successfully 7 days to break a habit, only 7 days. After that you will do fine.. It is a matter of asking your higher power for help. Pray to have Him take away the urge to smoke and the rest will do. I just like the flavor of the e cigarette. And it does not stink. Hope this helps? Hang in there... tc

If the "7 days to break a habit" thing was 100% true there would be a lot more nonsmokers out there.

I believe God supports those who are already doing the heavy lifting.

E cigarettes are great because now people aren't stinking up public places, but it is still nicotine, it isn't healthy for lungs, and it is still an addiction.

What helped me quit most of all was joining a quit smoking online community for support, but after a couple of months one has to learn to be more self reliant.

I really wanted to quit. I was surprised at how bad I felt at first. It might have been because I was using nicotine replacement patches and gum. I felt better after I quit those, but after quitting nicotine of any kind either from nicotine gum or e cigarette you still have to go through nicotine withdrawal. Cravings don't go away in a week, or even several months. A person who wants to quit has to learn how to cope with occasional cravings, anxiety, and irritability. This can go on for months.

Chantix worked for me. I just wasn't getting anything at all off the cigarettes or e-cigs. Also read allen carr's "The easy way to stop smoking" for motivation.

I quit smoking after 15 years.... I quit by switching to vaping.....it was a gradual transition, but after about 2 months I put down the cigarettes and was only vaping, I have been vaping for a little over a year now and I just love all the different flavors and I physically feel better. If you ever want to try vaping just ask me anything, I love helping people that want to quit the cigarettes
Thanks for this!

Yes, but you are still using nicotine, right? I haven't seen vaping up-close but also it is still pulling stuff into the lungs. I just don't understand why it is not still seen as an addiction. And it can't be good for you.

There's no doubt it's tough, Jupi, but it can be done. Check out the link that emwell provided for one. It took me a lot of tries before I succeeded, but I did, and it was the best thing I ever did for myself.

The best advice i have ever reeived to quit smoking is: when you wake up in the morning, wait as long as you can until your first ciggie. Your body already went quite a few hours without nicotine while you slept, so go even longer and you will evenually be weaned off.

Best of luck to you! I will smoke, but i keep it in check, like I‘ll smoke a pack a every month or so, that stuff starts to make me sickly if i overdo it.

Yes there is nicotine in the ejuice but I started at a high level (24mg) and I am now vaping at (0mg) and yes I could easily stop as I am no longer addicted to nicotine, but I just like the many different flavors and I also think its the habit of putting something to my mouth and inhaling and exhaling the vapor at this point, in time I feel I will be able to stop completely but I have only been vaping for a little over a year and have only been vaping at 0mg for about 3 months, I do not want to starting smoking again, I hope this made since to you
Thanks for this!
