I don't know whether many of you have to deal with this, but our septic problems here are UNGODLY. Especially in this heat. It's like, every single time I turn around, the ***** is just piling up. And the more room you give it, the DEEPER it gets. I feel like we've done all the right things you know? There's this stuff you can put in your septic tank to help it (call it septic tank therapy) and it SHOULD help, but no matter how much we pour into it, and no matter how gentle we are with it, it just pukes ***** up. . .constantly. I're really tried to make peace with this thing, but honestly, I think it's out to get me. I'm not kidding! I'm not being paranoid, but it's like, first the septic problem, and then it just keeps flowing down hill. Next the faucet keeps running and just runs and runs and runs and runs. I look at it, fiddle with it, and it's fine. So long as it has attention from me or Paul, it's ok. Soon as we go away, or pay attention to something else. . .there it goes again. And then the toliet (but maybe that's connected to the septic problem?) doesn't want to do it's thing either. I swear to God, the toliet is whining. I kid you not. . .there's this high pitched sound coming out of it unless (you got it) I'm messing with it. Then it shuts up.
I swear. . .I'm surrounded by attention seeking plumbing.

I'm so sorry to laugh at your woe.....but the phrase "attention seeking plumbing" cracked me up! At least you're finding the humor in things. I don't know how to sympathize because I've never had a septic tank; I've had toilets back up but thats about it. It definitely is a crappy problem (pun intended!)

septic tanks suck!!!!!!!
what can i say? you are always having to pour something down them, to get them to shut up.....and before you know it, they have to be drained.......and boy, do you pay for that!!!!!! it seems that they do seek attention. lots and lots of it. what to do? what to do? do we dig the hole deeper or put in a new one?????? |

I don't know. As bad as it is, I suppose it's better than the old open sewers, you know? I mean, could you imagine? If there we no filters? How much more ***** would actually get through? Ewwwww It's bad enough as it is now.
The toliet is really getting on my nerves however. No matter what I "feed" it (giggles wickedly) it keeps whining and carrying on. The faucet I can ususally ignore. . .it is all draining.

Gracey,
Whew, I so understand. We're having our's cleaned Monday morning...five ppl in the house lately...lol. Anyhow, we were having problems yearly UNTIL we changed to scott septic friendly toilet paper. If you forget to flush in the middle of night, it's half gone in the am. I never dreamed it could make the difference it has. We were having problems yearly and this is the first time in 4 or 5 yrs that we've had to have it cleaned. Changing the paper was better on the pipes too because they're small. They were always getting clogged, etc. No more of that either. When a friend told me she can't use anything else and what a difference it would make, I really didn't believe her but tried it. Little did I know... Good luck, hon, and I'm up crap creek with ya...LOL. KD

We use Scott too. Of course, living in a complex where so many people are so full of . .. well.. .you KNOW. . .it just doesn't seem to make a difference. There's always issues with the septic system. Too much ***** floating around if you ask me.

it completely depends upon the builder of the septic field. a bad septic system can completely overwhelm your leech field. sewer water can seep out of the ground. can you smell it yet?
how long has this been going on? did you say around two weeks? does the water percolate? ***** will cause that........ additives that advertise that they clean the septic tank may cause the SLUDE layer to "fluff" up and wash out into the leech field, plugging soil pores............. some additives are carcinogenic and will flow into the ground water. you don't want septic near your ground water, Gracey~!!! oh, Gracey, i fear that the ***** will overwhelm you. |

well, Gracey, you know how the wind can change courses and the toxic cloud can be so pungent that one can think they need HAZMAT in addition to a septic clean-out......

LOL I don't know about HAZMAT. . .it smells all potent but it's just a pile of *****, you know? Nothing really powerful about it. Makes the grass a lovely green color however.
I think I just need a pair of good wading boots.

All kidding aside, it's really starting to get to the point where it's almost triggering, you know? I mean, I don't know. Maybe I expect too much out of the managers at our complex, but it isn't fair that I have to deal with this CONSTANTLY. Grrrr I go to work. . .I come home. . .and it's there. I don't know. . .it *feels* a lot like dealing with your issues, b/c even though you can't always SEE it, you know it's there. Just steaming and simmering beneath the surface and if you don't deal with it, it will come exploding up and out and you're going to have a hell of a mess to deal with. I think I'll share this with T next time I see him. . .the analogy of therapy verses the problem with the septic tank. I don't know. . .am I nuts?

It ain't THAT big Faye. I don't know. . .however big a tank has to be to contain the crap of all these people living in my building. How big are they usually?
I can hear the people upstairs flushing and I'm like, "ohhhhhh nooooooooooo" My tank runneth over.

Have YOU tried........................ Rid-X once a month for 1 year?
.... it works wonders when done right. |

Wow guys,
My new farm in Kentucky has a septic tank.....they said it was cleaned out some years ago & never had any problems.....I haven't been having problems either.....but I started making sure I put rid-x down the drain every month.....just to make sure. When I purchased the house, the kitchen sink line had lost it's bracket & the pipe was sagging in the basement. I put up a bracked & the kitchen sink kept backing up after that....worse than when it wasn't fixed. I kept putting drano down that.....but it kills the good bacteria that rid-x adds to the septic......finally had to clean the whole pipe out with an auger.....that fixed the back up problem.....so now I can use the rid-x without it being a waste. Thanks for sharing the scotts tissue information.....I will be changing over. I have enough other problems....don't need to add the septic. You are right about the green lawn along the leach line....lol....in the draught, that was the only green part of my lawn except for where the line for backwashing my pool goes. I do understand the smell however....the ranch where I used to board my horses at was on septic & it backed up.....the smell was definitely much worse than the horse smell. Hope it gets cleaned out soon....sounds like that is going to be the only solution, Debbie
