Ok this is a question to anyone who doesn't have dental insurance but who found help with extreme tooth pain. What do you do? I've got a call in to my doc to see if I can get some antibiotics, but I'm gonna need to get this fixed.

I see my state insurance lady later and I'm gonna see if I have options with them if this turns medical IE extreme pain spreading to my sinus. Vocational rehab might be able to get it pulled but its not in the front, so their hands may be tied.

Has anyone ever gone through this? And if so did you find help???

Hey REy!!!

I haven't gone thru this personally, but I think if you're on disability that your case worker can help get you the treatment you need. My younger bro. was on that too, and they helped him find a dentist that took that ins. YOu might try your case worker. They are usually the best resources.

I hope so. I'm not on disability, just the state insurance and they don't cover dental....but maybe they'll know where I can go.

Dental schools at university hospitals? You got one of them "near" you? They're inexpensive and work with you. But maybe you can find a dentist that will work with you too.

You can always go to the ER in an emergency. They treat dental issues too, especially infections. Hope you feel better soon. (Don't use stuff like listerine, btw, as that kills good bacteria in your mouth, which you need to fight infection.)

Yeah I've gone to the ER before with tooth pain and they gave me anitibiotics. I almost went last night....but the thought of sitting in the waiting room all night in that much pain scared me. I figured my doc would give me the antibiotics, and she did, whew!!

Rayna, when you get that bad, calling the ambulance will get your treatment begun on the scene, plus you don't wait at the ER, they take you right in. You can usually also return within 24 hours without additional charge.

I'm glad your doc gave up the antibiotic. I hope you will please be sure to follow up with either this doctor, or a dentist, once the crisis is over, especially when the sinuses are involved. (ugh.)

Feel better.

Be careful about calling an ambulance for a non-emergency. Lately in our community and the surrounding area, EMS (fire departments etc) are now charging to transport. If your ins determines that your ride in an ambulance was not do to a life threating emergency, they will bill you for the cost.

My husband was transported from work due to a fainting spell (thought heart attack) and we had to fight the insurance company for 9 months to pay the $546.00 that the fire department billed us.

I do hope you have a college with a dental school near you. They do excellent work and charge on a sliding fee scale, if at all.

Glad you got the antibiotics and hope you feel better soon!

Take care

Hmmm well, ambulances here in South Florida also transport to urgent care centers, which fall under ERs. But yeah, you can't have hubby who can drive you standing there offering lol. Need your help with dental problems!!! TC
