I dont brush my teeth as often as I should,

and oh yes,

ocasionally, I fart!!!!

Im sorry for that outburst, but I wanted to be honest with you all.

Well, my question is,........does anybody else feel the way I do?

Maybe I should just be more bold.

Hi, Kman, and welcome to the boards. I'm taking a wild guess here. Are you Australian? Does "whinge" mean "whine"? LOL All of us here think that about ourselves at one time or another, so don't worry about it.

As for having phobic reactions to some physical symptons, if you have Panic Attacks or Generalized Anxiety Disorder, then you're perfectly "normal."

What do you think is often enough for brushing your teeth? How often do you do it? Not that it's any of my business, but the answer may be a clue.

Maybe your post sounded like an outburst to you but not to me. All are perfectly good issues as well as the question. Relax, be yourself and keep talking to us. We're a really close knit group here that cares a lot for each other.

Hope to hear more from you soon. pain in the "butt" syndrome.

Hi Septembermorn,

I dont know what my problem is, but I am fed up with it, that is certain.

I am tired of being stuck with "myself"

My id, I think a freudian would call it, is out of control.

I am fed up with its rantings.

How the hell does one mature anyway?

I mean litterally, the nuts and bolts of it. What happens inside, that a permanent change comes about in our attitude?

Its the "same ****** different day" for me for the last 35 years.

I am trying, really trying these days, but I cant pull myself togethor.
Infact, I am getting worse as I age.

Bah! I am in such a funk lately.

Hi, Kman

I have a serious issue in brushing my teeth. It is very difficult for me to brush my teeth for a couple of reasons.

The one reason I am aware of is that when I brush my teeth, I have to look at myself in the mirror for too long. I cant stand to look at myself in the mirror and brushing my teeth seems to make me look in the mirror for too long. Also I have trouble shaving my face for the same reasons. I just can not look in the mirror at myself for that long.

I don't know what else drives me away from brushing my teeth but it is a real issue for me and causes me distress at times, I have been able to brush them really quick which I guess is better than not at all, thought even that I can not make myself do every day.

Hope you get feeling better just wanted to know I share this odd thing about brushing my teeth.

Hi Kman,

I have a real issue with brushing my teeth too. Just after I got married, a dentist told me that the enamel on a lot of my teeth had been damaged by orange juice. My former dentist had never mentioned anything about that pain in the "butt" syndrome. Soon afterwards, I needed veneers on my four front top teeth. The veneers have worked very well, and overall my teeth are ok in most ways. I haven't had a filling since I was about 15.

But I am still "paranoid" about my teeth. For several years, I spent far too long brushing my teeth, and I hated eating sugary things without eating cheese afterwards (which is supposed to help prevent decay)

But lately I have gone the other way, and I go for a few days sometimes without brushing them at all pain in the "butt" syndrome. I still can't seem to spend a "normal" time brushing them. ie. the recommended 3 minutes ... it takes me far longer, and I often end up not doing them at all pain in the "butt" syndrome.

So I can certainly relate to issues with tooth brushing pain in the "butt" syndrome.

Take care,
Fuzzy

Kman, if you don't know what's wrong with you, I would suggest you talk to your family doctor. He may be able to recommend a therapist that can diagnose you. That's the best starting point. Once you know what your problem is, you can seek specific help. There are many resources here on this site. The best thing to do is talk to a therapist.

Good luck!

An excellent suggestion Miss september.

I will no doubt, some day soon, find a good professional to talk things over with.

The "move on" approach doesnt seem to be working too well.

Self medicating with alchohol, though fairly socially acceptable, is not very desireable.

I dont brush my teeth before bed, because the minty menthol flavour of tooth paste wakes me up, and keeps me from going to sleep.
Someone should invent toothpaste, for before bed with sleep inducing ingredients.

Veneers eh?

They look sexy. Changes the whole look of a persons face and smile.

Though they are very dear, like $400 aud per tooth.

I think I will stick with what god gave me.

"the minty menthol flavour of tooth paste wakes me up,"

Sounds like a commercial! LOL Sorry, I don't mean to make fun of you. Does it work well in the morning? pain in the "butt" syndrome.

You could try what Ozzie suggested and use baking soda... YUK!

My hope is that you don't find my jesting offensive. It helps to find the humor in our situations.

Keep posting so we can get to know you better. You sound like a person worth getting to know. pain in the "butt" syndrome.

"Do not drive or operate heavy machinery after brushing teeth."

pain in the "butt" syndrome.

That sounds like a good idea though. There might not be enough ingestion to add a true chemical sleep aid, but some kind of flavor/scent that is condusive to sleep would be a great idea. Aroma therapy is in favor now, and I know there are aromas for relaxation, sleeping. Maybe one of them could be adapted to toothpaste. That would be a cool idea.
