How do I become more able to handle certain people/places/situations without being so emotionally sensitive?

I have always been "over sensitive." The ancient philosophy of stoicism is really helping me (very different from the modern meaning of the word). Stoicism is making a resurgence in modern times. I posted on this forum about it and will put in the link.
Thanks for this!

DBT (therapy) has a whole section of work on Emotional Regulation & tie that to wise mind thinking that draws from our logical part of our brain, totally makes a difference. It is all about learning new skills & putting them into practice in our daily life

That's the million dollar question ! For me , I try and detach myself from the situation. Detach and also get away from the situation as soon as possible. When I get emotionally sensitive I'm usually thinking about something that connects me to the present situation. Something that hurts. I try not to spend most of my time thinking about someone or something else that hurts my sense of well being. Again , for me , it's getting detached or removed from the situation either mentally or physically.
And of course sharing your feelings like you did here to kind of help you along.
