Have any of you watched this? I only happened onto it last night.
I was impressed with the hypnosis approach, which it truly is. The thing he does is to have the person imagine something truly abhorrant when having a craving while pushing the middle finger and thumb of the left hand together. I can surely do this, regarding a variety of my addictions, including my struggle with smoking! But, then, he has the person imagine something from the past extremely pleasurable. This is where I have a hard time! I brought up a few marginal memories of extreme happiness, but it was hard for me! Sad comment, isn't it!
Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone else had seen this program.

Seems to be an offshoot of some of the "latest" techniques used in therapy... NLP and EDMR come to mind. If you are doing it for yourself, it probably won't harm you. It's definitely a type of self-hypnosis.

I've been watching it and have been impressed. I'm still doing the first few things such as putting my fork down when I'm eating, stopping when I first feel the feeling of full etc. I like the guy.

I'm not sure, as I just happened onto it while channel hopping, but Discovery Channel comes to mind. I bet you can find a website for it on the Internet with viewing times, etc.

This is the frustrating part from where I sit. Paul is a world renowned Hypnotherapist. But nowhere in the show or on the web site is the word hypnosis. What a shame.

If more people realized that these are simple hypnotic techniques that most of us use with are clients the world would be a different place. He is using Hypnosis, EMDR, EFT is the shows I have seen so far.

I just with they would call it what it is.......

Here's a link for the show. You can get more info from his web site.
http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/make-you...-you-thin.html

I had a revelation yesterday. For the first time in a week, we were watching tv while eating. I didn't even think about it until I finished and I was uncomfortably full. Wow. A week ago I wouldn't even have felt it. Now I suffered for a couple of hours.

I don't expect to see results after only a week, but I did begin to feel a great sense of peace that I contribute to having control over myself.

I saw part of one show, on a Sunday night a few weeks ago. I was just flipping channels, home alone while husband was working.

(It's on TLC,by the way...for those who asked)

It just struck me as yet another infomercial type thing, just another gimmick. I don't know. I really didn't read up much about it.

If it means anything....I ate an entire pizza while watching the show. And watching the show didn't make me stop. But....I'm rather screwed-up as it is...

The "I Can Make You Thin" program on TV Well, yes, there are techniques that you have to use, not just watch. (And nothing wrong with pizza!)

He gives good tips from what I've caught, in good self care about eating (if that is your issue.) If you believe you can change, you will. If you believe that using the techniques will help, they will! And the price is right too.

(OT thanks for the reminder about tax season... something I need to get done even if I am sick The "I Can Make You Thin" program on TV trying to get something back from the rebate/pay out, though I doubt I will.)

Well, I went to his website which is a link from the TV show site, and ordered the stop smoking CD's for $79. I know! But i have thought of hypnosis to stop smoking before. I did stop smoking for 9 weeks recently with the patches, but when they ran out thru all the step of patches, I caved.
I will let you know if the CD's are any help.

I'm still doing this and eating half of what I'd usually eat. The neatest thing is that you always have it with you. You don't have to spend hours and hours making a list and buying special foods. You can go out and eat and not freak out because it's off your diet.

Just wanted to let anyone who might be interested know.

I finally saw this show and it is indeed hypnosis.

A friend of mine, some years ago, was hypnotized by a peer (from grad school) as she wanted to lose weight. It worked. I used to share dinner hour with her family and mine for awhile to make sure she ate enough - she got thin indeed, but I guess it was a new concept back then, and the details weren't as defined for her by the student who hypnotized her like this guy has done on tv.

It's interesting, Doh, and I'm glad you noticed a difference.

Alot can be said about the power of suggestion.

I watched the program where he talked about using the right index finger and thumb and press when thinking of passionate, pleasant feelings and memories - in order to motivate people to use the sensation to get up and move - think physical, and i gotta tell ya - I was all over town yesterday, lol. I took care of all my obligations.

The truth of what he says vs. the weight loss industry - is that moving around, being physical, IS physical activity. You don't have to pay to walk, bend, reach, or join a gym, you have to move. He doesn't tell us what it is because that might affect his entertainment value, who cares, he offers simple truths, right?

I like him.

When is he on TLC again?

I find the tapping (EFT) works best for me. For now, I've lost my cravings. I can feel my ribs. The last "diet" I did was South Beach. It's a wonderful plan, but I had to eat more than I normally would and I would start getting hungry before my next meal and would have to wait or cheat.

Now when I'm hungry, I eat. And I'm eating what I ate when I was thin and I'm satisfied. Again, I need to see if this works for the long haul. It's easy to follow anything at first.
