So I had just woken up this morning, starting nursing Jeremy, was happily feeling a bit better and had a nice bright outlook for the day..

When someone knocks at my door.

I think..hmm, weird, who would be visiting this early? Certainly if it was my mom she would just come in as she has a key.

So I put Jeremy down, go to the door, and its the guy who originally hooked up my cable and internet. He says..

"I'm here to pick up a modem?" And I say "Uhhhhh...what? Why? I haven't cancelled service" and he says "well your service was cancelled for non payment last friday, I disconnected it at the wire" *he points to the wires on the side of the building"

I start shaking. He was super nice, so I didn't get mad at him. But I explained to him that when i got my first bill in february, I was expecting an 88 dollar bill, not a whopping 204 dollar bill like i got... I even asked on the phone when setting up my account if there would be any ahead fees, setup fees, and was told "No, just the 88 dollars on your bill"... Now, call me a crocodile but isin't that pretty damn specific when you tell someone that? So I ended up having to call them when I got my first bill, and received a very snarky remark from them about "how did I think they were going to bill" and "well there is nothing we can do you have to pay the bill or it will be disconnected" They were NOT nice. So I told the woman " Well, I am about to have a baby so it may take me a while to pay this off, seeing as how I wasn't expecting a large bill" to which she said that would be fine, and to make payments when I could. End that scenario.

Now, in April, theres a guy at my door who wants the modem and says he disconnected me a week ago on friday. Um. Nope, I have had service all along. Well, looks like he might have disconnected the wrong apartment OMG I am shaking (Wanted to say haha Dumb*** but i didnt, because this guy was at least helpful, I was just mad.)

I ask him to give me a minute to call into the company and I talk to the RUDEST man ever. He gives me the same comments. Says it will be disconnected now until the bill is paid in full. Says I should have known better than to leave it so long. I explain I didnt even get my last bill and had to call and have it sent again, and that I JUST paid 100.00 on it yesterday, which I did. He says, sorry, nothing we can do. Then he tells me he is going to get me the woman who i talked to last. So he transfers me to another rep,a woman..who is NOT who i talked to last and knows absolutely NOTHING about what im talking about. She transfers me back to guy A.

At this point I am crying and having a meltdown because I am going to be totally alone without ANY interaction beside my mom for almost three weeks, as they only come once a week to my little town, and I couldnt pay it off until the 1st when my check comes in. He gets even snarkier, says sorry, give the modem to the guy, he will disconnect it now, nothing we can do, you should have paid your bill.. Even after me explaining how I was in the hospital all the time and just had a new baby and wasn't well for a while, even his tone of voice is mean. So i just say fine. AND HE HANGS UP ON ME.

OMG I am shaking OMG I am shaking OMG I am shaking OMG I am shaking OMG I am shaking OMG I am shaking OMG I am shaking

So i Call my mother in tears, because.. well I dunno why, because I was freaking out and alone with the baby and the guy is here and I was totally overwhelmed.

Anyways, she comes over, talks to the guy outside, comes in asks if I can pay it off by the 1st, I say yes, that I even told them I would go down and send another 125.00 today if they wanted(which would leave me with almost nothing but I get another cheque on the 20th so I should be ok)she goes out, comes back in mad, says nothing they can do.

Then she gets really mad. and This is the only time her anger has been productive I think ever...

calls the company ends up speaking to a supervisor, who calms her down, and since I literally had no notice of this (they said they gave notice since they called once and got no answer - apparently that is notice) and because I paid on it and would pay today the guy would hook it back up..

So he did, and then there ended up being something wrong with the cable, which he had to replace... and now here I am back again but shaking still and god, I cant handle stuff like this.

They have been such A-words ever since I got service with them. And they are expensive too - 88.00 for 3mb internet and 32 channels..grrr When I can afford to pay off my bill with the other company here I will switch beileve me.

At least I am not without everyone now because right now this is my ONLY source of social interaction. Slowly I am metting people but they are all 50 or older relatives(nothing wrong with older people, they are fun too) but sometimes its just nice to hang around people my own age.

*deep breath*

and now to try and calm down...

My cable company pulls that too -- one voice mail is considered "notice."

I hope there is a special level of hell for cable company workers, honestly. They're right up there with insurance agents for being clueless and mean.

Feeling.... god, Stupidly a little jealous, and sad that having my first child has to be such a hard experience instead of a wonderful loving one between me and a man...

And on top of that baby has thrush and is feeding poorly and fussing and Im just crying to beat all hell.

Glad your Mom was able to help get it settled in the end. Cable companies can be evil to deal with.

I hate cable companies! There is just a small company here in town and NOBODY can get all channels! When we had cable we couldn't get any channels over 32 and on the other side of town they couldn't get the lower ones. I'd call and tell them I'm refusing to pay my bill until they fix the problem. A guy would come over "fix it" but it only last about a week. We finally cancelled and got DTV!

I'm so sorry that you had to deal with this, especially with the baby sick. At least the guy at the house was nice.

sounds like my cable company...I swear they sit around thinking of ways to charge you for every little thing. I ordered some damn movie packages for 3.99 per package and ended up with a 340. dollar bill, they were actually 15.99 a piece, plus my other stuff. I couldn't believe the sales rep can lie to people like that. They must get some kind of reward for sales and lie out their teeth to make them. Now I don't trust ordering anything on the phone, I'll drive down to the office.

Is your Internet through the cable??

Good thing it ended up working out in the end. That's life though, there's always an %#@&#! somewhere.

*hugs* sorry to hear about your troubles! And I thought I had expensive Cable (TV & Internet) at 70 bucks a month! When I signed up with the company there was a minimum 6month contract and if you cancelled there would be a big fee, anyhow I asked that since I knew I would be moving before then how that would affect it. They said to just call before I moved to have the service transferred. Well I did just that. I had auto bill pay setup anyhow I was charged the cancellation fee, the monthly service charge AND a non return fee for the modem (which was basically like paying for the modem at 96 bucks!) Anyhow I called the company and explained the situation and they credited my account for all of thier mess. They even gave me an extra month of cable free. So sorry that they were not truthful!

Also, with Facebook... I suggest that you block your ex...the things you see will only hurt you and I think it would be in your best interest to forget about him completely. I told the same thing to my best friend about her ex and she said it's the best thing she's ever done.

I'm sorry about the cable mess. I really think that cable companies are sleazy. We had a similiar situation happen in that the marketing person who called and sold us cable phone and internet service as an all-in-one package with the cable we already had .. stated a specific discount price for signing up. The discount price was to last 6 mths.

well ... the bill arrived and it was not the discounted pricing at all, not even close. Got on the phone and got the same type of run around that happened to you.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business B. I don't know if it will make any difference but I figure that if multiple incidents of false advertising are reported, perhaps something will be done to protect consumers.

sorry for the mess ..hang in there.
