It has not been good for me for awhile and has gotten to the point where I can no longer cope. So I am going on short-term disability starting Monday and taking a leave of absence from my job, while I adjust meds, consider going inpatient, and figure out what's next for me from here. I figure when you start having panic attacks at the mere thought of having to go to work, it's time to take action.

I'll be looking into voc rehab and federal disability as well.

I am not very good at doing things that are good for me -- it always makes me feel guilty to take care of myself. So this is really, really scary for me positive thoughts and hugs needed. Plus, I feel terrible for sticking my already-stressed coworkers with extra work.

Can somebody tell me this is OK? positive thoughts and hugs needed positive thoughts and hugs needed

It's good that you are doing something for yourself, your coworkers will make it through this, it sounds like you really need to do this.

Taking care of yourself and admitting that you need help and seeking it are all very brave things to do. You're at least smart enough to take action before things get completely out of control. Don't worry about work - they'll manage fine without you. The important thing for you is to focus on you and getting healthy.

Good luck.

positive thoughts and hugs needed Candybear, you've had a good run! Take a break and recharge, and that will give you time to reflect on better ways to approach or respond to whatever it is at work that takes so much from you. Then, when you return, you may be able to go an even longer distance before a break. (BTW everyone needs breaks, they call them vacations. Suffering with mental unwellness causes a need for more breaks, that's all.)

TC! Plan some good stuff while you're off.

It is very noble of you to be concerned for your co-workers at a time like this. I hope everything goes well for you.

My friend, my lovely friend (((((((((((((((Candy)))))))))))))))))

It is okay. I know its weird taking care of yourself for once, but this is okay. You deserve the time, and it sounds like you need the time off. It's not like you're going to go off on vacation and overburden your coworkers on purpose. Life happens, and you're entitled to some time to figure things out.

Love you, no matter what. You take the time you need for yourself, okay? You deserve it.

Of course this is okay, it wouldn't be ok to NOT take care of yourself. Take all the time you need.
Best of luck to you. HUGS!

What courage you have, Candy! It's so good to hear that you will be taking care of yourself. We all need to do it but so many times we just let it slide. You're also showing a lot of strength in taking action. YAAAAY for you! positive thoughts and hugs needed So proud of you for taking this step! positive thoughts and hugs needed

I'm gonna miss my "kittehs" if you go inpatient, though. positive thoughts and hugs needed LOL I'll survive for sure so don't worry about ANYTHING... not even your coworkers.

I agree with Tomi, it takes courage to step back and take care of yourself when the world wants everything to keep going. You're doing a good thing, and I'm sure it's going to be a positive for you. And whatever happens down the road, it will be all the better for you feeling better.

Thinking of you...

Maybe when you learn how to take care of yourself you can teach me how. I have trouble with taking breaks too. When we push ourselves too hard, we can't do our best work, and the people around us suffer for it too. I'm glad you are taking a break. I hope it helps.
