We woke up this morning to find out a major water main broke in our town. Our whole county has no water. They had to cancel school and most everything in town is closed. They said they are not sure when they will have it fixed. So I guess today every woman in town will be wearing a baseball cap. No Water

Oh, wow (((((((((((( monty ))))))))))))

I hope they fix it soon. Please be careful to watch for any special instructions (i.e. boiling) when they get it back up.

When something like that happens here, they issue an advisory afterwards.

Good luck hon, and I hope they fix it soon.

They just made the boil water statement on the TV if you have any water coming out. Which we do. It will take me about 10 minutes to fill a half glass of water, but something to brush my teeth with at least. ( Might be want was left in our pipes? )

If you know anyone skilled you could probably empty your hot water heater into containers. Then boil like suggested for drinking. But you also will need some for flushing the toilet.

You simply pour some water in the tank it doesn't have to be full and flush.

But don't waste water flushing. We had a saying at an old cabin, "If its pee let it be." LOL

Good luck.

Monty, it really sucks when a basic necessity is gone. One of those things you take for granted. I know i been there and still dealing with the water thing three years going on now.

Do what Kimmy says, watch out for warnings when the water does come back on.

If ya'll get rain, stick out a bunch of buckets to catch the water. We used that water for the toilet and bathing. Then used bottled water for cooking and drinking. And someone mentioned draining the water from the hot water heater. That works great too, but doesnt last long. So conserve on what you have.

I think they will get that water line fixed pretty fast.

They said they hope to have it fixed by this afternoon. And have already said to boil the water till further notice. I'm sure the water is already sold out at the wal-mart. My hubby works in the next town so I'm going to have him stop and get some bottled water on the way home, so I have drinking and cooking water.

My parents went through this the other day. LOL my mom was in the kitchen and heard a loud noise and thought something was wrong with the fridge and started to unload it so the food wouldn't go bad and then cleaned out under it and the noise persisted and then she thought oh maybe its the woodpecker on the side of the house. It was the men working on the water line down the street LOL. Needless to say they weren't able to take showers until later in the day. I told her she should have showered at the gym after she and dad worked out but she said nahhhhhh she just would have gotten sweaty again as the showers are off the pool area. LOL.

Water...how we take it for granted! I have lived on a couple of farms where water was scarce...one had a yukky cistern, and I wouldn't dring the water, and even hated to bathe in it! The little well on that ridgetop farm would pump a few gallons and then turn muddy.
Also, I grew up in the coal mining region of WV. After they started strip mining there, with shaking blasts down the narrow valley, all the well water was ruined and turned iron red.
So I never take good water for granted.
I hope your water supply comes back soon. In the meantime, do what others have suggested here, and be safe.
Love
Patty
