I was wondering if any of the business people here on PC could help me with what I need to do to obtain a business license that would allow me to start a Pet Care Business..... I would go to the clients house to feed / walk (care for) pets while their owners are at work, away for the weekend or on vacation.

Thanks.

In Florida, just about anyone can obtain a business license just by paying for it...depending upon the business. (Contractors, doctors, for example, do have their own professional licensing departments.)

www.myflorida.gov

You need to check with the State, Counties and Cities you will want to operate within, for their own additional requirements. Some Cities require qualifications, some only require registering at no charge.

You also need to look into being bonded (very expensive), liability insurances, and incorporating (to protect you and your assets personally.)

Good wishes!

Rhapsody, we have hired professional petsitters and they need to be bonded to guard against liability. The ones we have used work for one person, and she and her company are the one that is bonded. The others work for her so don't need to be bonded themselves, and I think they need to give her a cut of what they make on the job. But this way they don't have to spend all the money to get bonded themselves. It might be worth looking into to join such a group. At least to start off, rather than getting bonded yourself at the outset.

Good luck.
