Hey all -
Just wondering if anyone else who has BPD or Biploar expericences impulsive behavior especially when you are in an angry state. I have such a hard time controlling my anger, that I react so fast. Then usually regret it later. I know that my therapist has said to me take a step back, think about things before reacting, but how the heck do you do that when the anger is right there. So if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks Islander |

<font color="#000088">Well I'm Bi-Polar, and I do have a definate problem with controlling my temper sometimes. There are some times where I really need to take a step back, so I don't end up in handcuffs,or off to the psych ward for losing it! There are certain People around here that push my buttons on purpose, trying to get me to lose my temper, because they want me gone. They have personal problems, and they like to take them out on me. You know how some people take their frustrations out on the people that are closest to them. Well I had a couple neighbors that I was friends with for awhile and then all the sudden when the one that I was the closest to was hurting ,she started taking it out on me, and then convinced the other that I was bad as well, and it wasn't that difficult because the other one is Bi-Polar and was in a manic State at the time,so she took advantage of the opportunity, and turned her against me to! The Bi-Polar one still gives me a hard time, and the other one stays inside her apartment all the time, but she will find a way to get to me eventually,I know how she is.

BP and BPD...stepping back is hard...mine is mainly with impulsive behavior and not really so much anger...though I'm more the passive-aggressive type...
For impulsive behaviour it is spending...so I leave most credit cards at home. Besides the pause button...it might be a good idea to list out recent events that you felt you regretted the outcome...write down what you would have liked the outcome to be and what you could have done to get that...this might be a start in helping you think...during the pause...that didn't work well last time...try to remember what you wanted to do... Can't think of anything else at this time...

Hey -
Thanks for the reply - I will try to write down when I did something impulsive during a time I was angry. Thats a good idea. Thanks for letting me know that I am not the only one out there with the anger issues. Islander |
