My pdoc told me I need to work with my therapist on my personality disorder. I told my therapist this week and she said, "what one, there are dozens". My former pdoc thought I had borderline personality disorder but from what I have read about that I have a few of the traits but not overwhelming so. My therapist doesn't think I have borderline either.
So I am wondering what my doc was talking about. I could email him but I like to be independent when I can so I am trying to figure out what disorder I have. OCD compulsive hoarding for sure and I am working on that. That's all I recognize. Any help?

When I was at the psych cliinic they the p-docs there gave what is called the MCM-III I think I don't know what it stands for but it does measure personality disorders. It said I was narcissistic lol no suprise there.

Maybe it would help to think what you were talking about just before he said that.

Um, I found a few tests right here on PC, but nothing especially for personality disorders. I mean these here:
PsychCentral.com quizzes I would be interested in online resources, too, in order to check my status quo. As far as I know, most of the "official" tests are copyrighted, so I can imagine it's not possible to get them for free. But I may be not informed well enough about that. So, if anybody knows something, please let me know... bluna

The best one is MMPI-2 - Minnesota Multi-Phasic Personality Inventory. But you usually have to get that done by a professional, you can't evaluate the results yourself.
I had to take this test as part of a job interview once. Needless to say...I did not get the job. (that's how they weed out the mentally ill...which I think is one form of discrimination, but that's another debate...) |

The MMPI is a good personality index, however, it's strengths lie in Axis I diagnosis, not personality disorders which are Axis II on the DSM multi axial diagnostic tool. Better would be to have the MMPI and the MCMI (Millon Clinical Multiaxial Index?) together. The MCMI is a better instrument for looking at personality disorders (Axis II). Using them together allows the diagnostician to look at the person's personality functioning over acute and chronic Axis I and Axis II issues. I believe and it's been my experience that this gives you the most useful and clearest diagnosis as compared to using only one of the two listed above. The battery that 90pmhinneutral underwent sounds like a very well-rounded, thorough one, though it's not always practical or possible for all clients to experience that.
Good luck. gg
