How come there is no category for Complex PSTD or it's other name ESDNOS(I think)?

I think it may have to do with Complex-PTSD (C-PTSD) not being in the DSM yet.

I certainly hope it eventually ends up in there and we can have our own forum.

There are unique characteristics to C-PTSD that are not present in Regular & Combat Related PTSD.

C-PTSD doesn't respond well to the treatments used for Regular and Combat Related PTSD.

Hugs to all of us who have the misfortune of having the added burdens of C-PTSD.

It certainly makes it more difficult for us to heal and recover from it.

I agree with Sweepy there should be a forum for Complex PTSD. Can we start one to help each other?

OK, Newbie:

What is "ESDNOS", and how do you define "C-PTSD"? How is the treatment different?

Thank you, Deborah

i know that nos is not other wise specified and c ptsd differs in the way of the trauma which is repeated time and time again the younger you are and the less coping skills you have to deal with it the more damage it leaves you with not to say that trauma is less damaging in ptsd by itself but in ptsd by itself usually its a one time event as it was explained to me

My treatment does not differ for any diagnosis. It is the same for ES, PTSD and would be the same for a personality disorder. That is how IFS works.

Sweepy, That's great that you were able to find a group in your area!

Moxie, What do ES and IFS stand for? Thanks.
