I have PTSD from childhood abuse by an uncle. One thing that I've been noticing lately is that sometimes when it rains it triggers me into flashbacks but other times I LOVE the rain and can really enjoy it. What the heck??

Loving on a rainy day is trigger for your injured inside child possibly.....We all have triggers like this sometimes it's really raw then subsides, then there is something else that gets raw. The best thing to do is to be in therapy talking about it for now avoid it, so that safety is first most important thing in your life.

Generally, as for me wrestling is something that is triggering for me. Yea, I know weird because it directly related to something that happened to me as a child. Most people would think that is crazy. There are times when I can deal with wrestling in other ways and not be so charged by those memories etc. Although it still raw, there are things I can do to make it better, like a time limit etc. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it.

I can definitely relate. There are certain things that sometimes really trigger me and other times it does affect me at all, and in fact I love it. For me it's movies/TV and certain songs. I've found that for me being conscientious of my mood helps me know if it will trigger me or not. Like if I'm having a bad day or I'm already feeling vulnerable to triggers then I know that I'm more likely to be triggered by those things. Other times if I'm in a great mood then I know that I'm usually okay. But that is 100% fool proof. Sometimes those triggers can make a good mood crash. I'm still struggling to identify a lot of my triggers.

i get alot of triggers from the rain too. my mother told me my first sentence i ever said was it's gonna rain. i know i get headaches from pressure systems coming in over the lake which is around the block from my house. then it rains.for some reason, i do love rain if i'm in the house and not outside in it. i love the sound on the windowpane, and it seems relaxing to me, good luck

It's been raining for a week now and earlier in the week it triggered me big time and sent me into several flashbacks but tonight sitting here listening to the rain dance off the roof is soothing to me. I know why rain causes flash backs but it's so mind boggling that at times it can be so soothing. I guess for tonight I feel blessed that it's not triggering me and I can just try to relax and fall asleep.
