We can always hope there will be an answer at some point. Do you take anything to help you sleep?

Wow, that sounds like a lot. I take half of a Lunesta and I'm out for at least 4 hours.
Do you think the medications have anything to do with the nightmares?

Even when I downsized the dose my nightmares were just as bad. I have seen no difference either way. I also have Ativan to take if I am manic. My sister controls my taking of this because I abused it. I also have a stronger sedative that she administers if I need to calm down but none of this calms me down to prevent a nightmare... |

I did a Google search on Lunesta+Seroquel+bedwetting , do the search and look at this info. Maybe your Psychiatrist can change to something without this side effect.

But the nightmares started long before I was prescribed these meds. There has also been no increase of symptoms since I started these medications. These meds were raised up over a few years. Again, with no discernable difference in the level or intensity of my nightmares. Amanda |

Wow, really finding out some interesting stuff reading these articles
https://www.caring.com/articles/7-me...e-incontinence 6. Sedatives and sleeping pills Which ones: Any sedative or sleeping aid that relaxes muscles and makes you sleep deeply; brand names Ativan, Valium, Dalmane, Lunesta, Ambien; generic names diazepam, flurazepam, lorazepam, eszopiclone, zolpidem Why they may be culprits: Sedatives slow your reflexes, so you don't recognize the signal that it's time to go. Sleeping pills compound the problem by putting you into such a deep sleep that you miss the alert from your bladder to get up. Bed-wetting affects about 10 percent of incontinence sufferers, and experts estimate sleeping pills contribute to the problem in many cases.

That was interesting... I have tried all those medications at different times.
I have also had times when I stopped all these medications and still wet my bed. My levels of these medications have just been raised back up because they are effective... I rather avoid manic episodes than having no bed wetting. |

If you read the article I gave you Amanda, your brain is trying to process this trauma. I bet that each time you have a nightmare there is some new piece that your brain is putting into the experience. Because this is such a major trauma, and it is so graphic, it's hard for your brain to put all it needs together to process it all.
Now, I know this is hard but try very hard not to determine this is going to be something this hard the rest of your life. You don't want to keep telling yourself this is going to be a forever challenge. As hard as it is, acknowledge it, "yes that happened, but it's not "now" I am alive and I am safe and I am ok". It's amazing how much that can help and how much power that can take out of a flashback, be it in sleep or wake time. |
