I've been on Zoloft for 10 days now. The first 7 days I was on 25 mg per day and felt horribly depressed and anxious. I'm now on 50 mg per day and feel like a zombie. I've become very apathetic. I could sit and stare at blank walls all day and be entertained by that. I drink massive amounts of caffeine to try to get myself going. I'm not sleepy, just a zombie. I don't care about anything. Still a bit anxious, though, as I'm falling behind in school. Does this go away?

It did for me. I've tried 3 meds and each time I started something new, I felt pretty out of it for the first few weeks. It did get better with time.
Thanks for this!

Sorry to hear!! I'm not a big fan of Zoloft since it didn't help my depression, made my thought processing slow and caused sexual side effects. I'm not a pharmacist or pdoc, but if it's lastly that long and you don't want your grades to slide, switch meds. Welbutrin is activating and works great on depression for most people! Also, Welbutrin SR helps with weight loss. Best of luck!!

Alas, Wellbutrin makes me manic. Almost as bad as Prozac. Wellbutrin worked really well for me in the past when I needed an extra boost. Don't know why it doesn't now. Thanks, though!

I'm one step ahead of you, I just bumped up to 75 and you sound just like me in side affects. Depressed then zombie. Sometimes both.

So sorry to hear that! Did you get a splitting headache when you upped your dose? I did. It was so bad that absolutely nothing helped - not even prescription migraine medication. Fortunately it lasted only a day.

In the last hour, I've felt upbeat. I wonder if that's because the Zoloft is wearing off. I take it at night. 25 mg isn't enough; 50 mg seems to be too much. Maybe 25 one night and 50 the next? I suppose I could try splitting the pill into thirds... Good grief!

My doctor actually told me not to take it at night, as it increases the risk of insomnia.

I had at least one bad headache last week but I don't know if it was the med or not.

I took my first 75 mg just this morning and I feel like I keep getting sadder.

This is precisely why I quit Zoloft on 3 occasions! First time in 2008. Could not past the 3rd day. Very tired, minor tremors. Second time I tried was last month. Only I started at 25mg instead of 50 as the doc prescribed. That was easier for me. I stayed on 25 for 2 weeks, stopped agin after 3 days, but went back on it, by the 2nd week all the side effects vanished while I was getting use to 25mg. Then I went up to 50mg with no noticeable difference and no side effects. Stayed on 50 for 7 days, then went to full tab 100mg, for past 5 days. I did feel some side effects but nothing to serious. I'm also taking Wellbutrin too.

Zoloft does take some getting use to be yes the side effects go away, but I think docs push us too quickly on it and that's why so many stopped before the 2nd week!

Welbutrin on its own is not that cool if you have anxierty with depression and the 2 usually come has a package, sold on the streets in England has ZYBAN a wrecky drug for night out to give a boost with booze. Great given with another AD to boost the flat effect, but on its own anxiety get worse., basicly you are buzzing
Thanks for this!

I tried to take Wellbutrin with Lamictal. Didn't work. Mania through the roof - for me, anyway. Driving 90 in a 50 mph zone. Sleeping maybe 8 hours in one week. It was not a fun time.

Hi, Vossie!
I've been on Zoloft for around six years (having to adjust dosages and such).
I can tell you that I have had those feeling before on it, definitely.
For me, it was typically a side-effect, and it will usually leave if you can tough it out for about 4-6 weeks.
In some cases it still felt that way, and turns out I needed a lower dose.
Maybe you should try to stick with 25mg for a bit longer (ask your doctor for something such as Atarax to keep you calm until the meds kick in), and see how you do after a month?
I'm no doctor, so you can't take my advice for certain, but I have been a long time user of Zoloft/Sertraline.
It can take around 4-6 months for SSRIs to get fully into your system (sometimes longer).
It even takes weeks for just increases in SSRI doses to kick fully in!
But I recommend you keep in touch with your doctor, and I wish you the best of luck!

Yup this is the only schedule V drug ripe for abuse. Sold on the streets in Toronto as a poor man's cocaine. Sold in prisons in the US for $2 A pill. People shoot it, snort it, abuse the crap out of it. I just don't get the attraction? It's the same effect as a Monster Energy Drink without the crash. You can only feel so energized on it because it seems to have a roof. Sadly I can see this drug being changed to a schedule IV

Your right on it's own it's kind of mild for depression and actually increases anxiety and mood swings. But with a SSRI can work nicely to counter the tiredness one gets when they first start taking a SSRI. It also counters the sexual dysfunction side effect from most SSRI's too. I first found out about it when my gdoc suggested I try it to stop smoking. Didn't work. But then I remember smoking with the patch too lol. I finally quit by switching to ecigs.

I would try it if scripted in ENGLAND , WELLBUTRIN banned for siezure scare in test on heart patients, there thinking not everyone knows they have a heart prob , so take wellbutin you soon will . ZYBAN suddenly became very popular and the GPS soon found it was being abused , so a 3 week course for smokers and thats your lot.

All side effects at 100mg have disappeared for me. I like it mainly for the reduction of anxiety.
