Hi, Sinda. I have no personal experience with either of those meds, but have had friends on both. It just depends on how your body & mind react to them.

It took me a year after my dx of bipolar to get the right meds & I take a lot, but they really helped clear up my delusional thinking & depression. I have had one relapse in four years on these meds, so my Lamictal was increased & Trazodone & klonopin were added to Abilify, Concerta & Provigil. Hope they find the right meds for you sooner rather than later. It was a tough year, but I never gave up hope & had confidence in my meds provider. She is great--really listening to me & positive.--Suzy

Yes. I am on Trileptal for mood stabilization, and it is helping. I am tentatively dx'd Mood Disorder NOS, they think possibly Bipolar II. They are ramping me up slowly as I have other medical issues, including multiple sclerosis. That is the main reason the p-doc picked Trileptal instead of Tegretol, it is a bit gentler on the liver, which is already having to process Interferon 1-a every week.

I started on 150 mg bid and am now on 300 bid. I expect she will raise it again next week.

It does seem to make my ankles swell a little, and I get nauseous for a couple days after she raises the dose. Other than that, no issues at present.

If I can be of help, please do PM.
