I have had some success with 5HTP but still need to return to a low dose of my prescription medication- Lofepramine (a tricyclic, brand name Gamanil). Is it safe to take both ?
My 5HTP are 100mg caps. I assume because 5HTP is 'the intermediate metabolite between the amino acids L-tryptophan and serotonin' (i.e. a 'natural' substance available in food ) that this should be okay providing neither is taken to excess.

Hi,
Honestly, your doctor/pharmacist should be aware of all meds, herbs, supplements that you take. Some people do mix 5htp with their AD's but you will find it listed in the warnings/directions on the container. Be safe talk to your doctor.

Thanks Badger and Rhapsody, my doctor is pretty clueless on natural preparations, I'll ask him anyway. Thanks for the link, I may use that in future.
