Ok, so I went to the p-doc and we talked and talked and finally he came down to either increasing my wellbutrin to 450 mg, the highest he would go...or wean off wellbutrin and start cymbalta. I chose the latter so now I have 12 days to wean off wellbutrim before starting this. So anyone have any experience with it? He told me it has dual capabilities in that the one part is ssri and the other norepinephrine uptake inhibitor(something like it). And it has been used to treat PN due to diabetes. and of course the depression, which i was rediagnosed as a major relapsing depression. So now after I am on cymbalta for a week i call him with update. In the meantime, he has me seeing a therapist for psychotherapy since meds dont work to cover the depression as a whole...so any one with any history or knowledge that can tell me what i am in forr...i would be indebted. Cymbalta anyone?? melanie

Melanie~

I was on Cymbalta for 2 yrs. I had good results except for bad tummy cramping which lead to uncontrolled bathroom trips. I stayed on it because my old pdoc wouldnt change anything.. so I changed pdocs lol. The new one changed it to Wellbutrin and when I can afford to be on it.. I love it. It improves my focus incredibly I think. Sorry your feeling you need to make the change. But I hope it works out well for you. Take care.

I have been on Cymbalta 60mg as well as Wellbutrin 300mg for several months - I felt better but not 100%. My pdoc added Lamictal about a month ago (gradual titration up to 200mg daily) and now I feel better than I have in years. Even returning to activities I had stopped doing instead of sitting around and watched TV and eating. One of them seemed to curb my appetite a bit (or maybe just the fact that I am not trying to make myself happy with food), also sleeping less (I tended to sleep my depression away) but not so much that it is a problem. NIghttime sleep is appropriate.

I have been on Zoloft and Depakote for many years but I can tell that the Zoloft has lost its efficacy for me.

My pdoc has now prescribed Cymbalta to replace the Zoloft. I am on day 5 of 30 mg. I will be on Cymbalta 2 weeks - then a titration to 60 mg.

I tend to be very susceptible to suggestion so I have purposely not read the side effects. (pdoc said to be careful of possible constipation) Glad to read this thread and thank you all for the feedback.
