ok, i was meant to have an appt with my T today but i got a call from her office this morning saying she wasn't coming in as her kid was sick, and the next avaiable appt wasn't until 2 weeks from now. I can understand that that sort of stuff happens, but it is just sooo frustrating and i feel like i really need to see her as i am struggling a bit at the moment...i'm trying to stop self harm, but i'm really not sure how i'm going to manage for the next two weeks?!! cannot wait for 2 weeks, i really need to just go there and have a huge rant...

zombiette,

Yes, that sort of thing upsets me too.

If things get too bad for you is there someone else you can ring?
Or may be you could ring your T after a few days and speak to them on the phone.

And of course there is Psych Central!

Hi Zombiette,

I'm so sorry about your counselor cancelling - that is so difficult when you're already having a hard time. I wonder if you can see if your counselor has a cancellation list? Sometimes doctor's offices do that, and I think counselors do, too. They can call you if they get a cancellation. It may be worth letting the counselor know that you're willing to come in sooner, even if it is short notice (if you are able to do that).

Take good care of you in the meantime, and I send good wishes your way...sounds like a hard time....be safe.

Take care,
ErinBear

thanx...yeah i could go to my dr, i've got to anyway to discuss my meds as i am on 40mg prozac, but i'm thinking of trying paxil as prozac just doesn't seem to be doing that much anymore. also have got a friend i cld ring about the depression ( but not slef-harm, as that tends to freak ppl outside of med/psych field out)...my T does have some urgent slots weekly, i think...so i think i'll give that a go

Hi Zombiette,

That sounds like a good idea, to see if your counselor might have any urgent slots available. You can talk with your counselor and your doctor, too, about changing meds and get their feedback on it. And sometimes it does really help to make contact with friends when it's a particularly rough time. Sometimes I call friends and just talk about the weather, or ask them how their day is going, or we talk about something in the news....and I don't even say anything that is going on here. It helps just to make contact with another person and I'll feel better just making that connection. Like you said, some folks aren't very comfortable discussing difficult things, too, and I think it's good to respect that. But at least for me, it can still be really helpful just to be in touch with somebody, even for a little while, if things aren't going so well. Take extra gentle care of yourself. I hope things start looking up soon!

Take care,
ErinBear

Been there! It happened to me in December. So, I missed a whole freaken month of talking to her. Come and post all you like. Try to find something you can do concerning your goals. Thinking about my goals some seems to help me pass the time before I can talk again. But, I am starting another month of no T appointment because she was all booked up. She said that she would add my name to her cancellation list. So, counselors do have cancellation lists. Hang in there.

You made it! I hope your next appointment goes good. Sometimes talking about hard things will make you feel kind of bad because you keep working on it after session. Hang in there.
