Some prefer to come to one place to chat, they don't like to have to go back and forth to other forums.

Two groups that I can think of are "A Third Place" and "Those in Therapy 2.0". I don't think they are that active, but they started out with great intentions and I still think they are a great idea.

Maybe you can put up a poll to see who is interested? I would still love to have a weekly chat set up! I just don't think I am the one to be a leader of something like that.

So what do y'all think? Kinda like the couch only more private I guess... Maybe we old call it the couch after dark.... LOL, let's take a vote... All in favor and ideas about names and or members only, open invite etc?

I'd be up for something like that. Cause I like just coming to the couch and catching up on the conversation and throwing a word in here and there..it surely gives an option if you want to hang on PC but aren't in a healthy place to read or reply to threads. Its like it will give a space if you still want to connect.

I was thinking since this one goes along the lines of "the couch", maybe something catchy like "The Lounge" could be a starting place to find a name for the group.

"Welcome to the Psychotherapy Lounge". Maybe this one could be for the after hours group. The ones of us who stay up way too late! Or it can be for whoever wants to come in a have a seat.

Lounge: a comfortable room where people can sit and relax; pass time; hang out; make yourself at home; kick back; often wearing comfortable clothing, etc...

Just an idea. I don't mind setting it up if we can agree on a name to call it. You do have to get 25 people to sign up before it can actually be turned into a forum. Until you get that many, all posts wil be on the main page. That can get confusing. So, it would be better to find out just how many are really interested in it before it is created.

It is something to really think about. The Couch is doing very well in this forum. We just need to make sure this is something that people would really be interested in taking part of. I think its a great idea, but I am only one person. It will take more than that to keep it going!

Your request has been done! I set up a poll to see how many were interested in being a part of a Social Group. We will see........

I saw the poll and tried to vote yes- But when I clicked on it to vote- it told me I didn't have sufficient privleges to view the page? And now- I don't see that thread at all on my screen. But my answer was yes- sign me up.

I decided to take it down. I didn't want to give anyone the impression that I was going to lead it. I don't have the extra time to put into it. I am willing to set it up, but we really need to have someone who is motivated to make sure that it keeps going and is active. Too many times groups get started but wane after awhile because no one really took charge of it.

If anyone wants to take on that responsibility, I will help you create a group.

I'm not sure I would be the best "canidate" to actually be in charge of it until I'm comfortable become full blown active on here. I go through spurts.

my issue with social groups is that you have to sign in every time you want to use them, and or you first have to go to your own groups page, and that's what I forget to do, and then I get grumpy going thru the log in. too much admin for me, by the time I do all that I could have read 10 actual posts! well maybe not ten... but I just have a low low tolerance for looking for stuff, esp on the mobile site, and frankly on the full site it's worse.

Hankster, I make use of bookmarks. For the forums or groups I frequent. I hate searching, especially on my phone. Have you given them ago?

Thanks, but for some reason those are SUPER slow on my stupid phone. I have a REALLY old phone! I cannot ABIDE waiting! at work I always used to have multiple panels open. I even asked for an additional mainframe i.d. because the mainframe processing was too slow for me, but they wouldn't give me one. And they claimed to support multitasking, ha!

Stopdog asks a useful question. How would having a social group be better than having a designated thread? I don't know much about them, so I'm curious.

I think the dedicated thread is better. I don't see it as any different than the "I need to tell T something" thread or "Daily Roll Call" thread. It's a lot less cumbersome and everybody's welcome.

I don't know that it would be more useful. It was just an idea. After thinking it over, I decided I didn't want to have to go back and forth between forums.

I guess the purpose I was thinking is that on this forum, you have to sort through so many posts to get to "The Couch". Since it is so popular, I was trying to think of a way to get to it easier. I have a feeling it is going to be a keeper (for a LONG time)

Good Job Lola for coming up with this idea!

Now that I think about what I just wrote, it was not my intent or thoughts to move your thread over to a Social Group. I was thinking more along the lines of starting "The Psychotherapy Lounge". It would be separate from "The Couch."

I don't really understand what a sticky is. Can you keep posting in it like you can in a thread?

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
