It's weird because I am very obedient. I can't walk out ever. So I was feeling really trapped. This guy supposedly has a big treatment center on the main land. He was written up as dealing with alcoholic's children and domestic violence. If I don't call he may call me. oh no.
H is on his way home for a little bit, I only took a sip of vodka because I remembered I have to sit for my niece later on. I took the dogs out and cut some lavender. I can take care of myself, I am older, I am stronger, I am safe.

If he calls just tell him you're not interested. You won't be the first based on what you're telling us about him.

OMFG. That is so gross. I want to take a shower just after reading that.
If you're worried about him calling you, can you call him -- with H sitting next to you to make sure you follow through, if you're like me and tend to cave under pressure to do things you don't even want to do -- to tell him you've found another therapist, and thank him for his time? It's not totally untrue... I mean, you FOUND lots of therapists... Besides, I'm not sure what his cancellation policy is, as in whether he will charge you for a no-show. Then you'll get charged AND a phone call. Might as well nip it in the bud, when you're ready. EW. |

did he set an appt time? just have h call and leave a cancel msg. or write a cancel email. just don't incur a charge. omg. what a nightmare. this is not a healthy person. i'm so sorry this happened to you. scary. ((((wiki)))) my prescription to cure obedience is to watch Ella Enchanted, the Cinderella with Anne Hathaway? And my most favorite stepmother and stepsister ever, the blonde from Ab Fab, and Lucy from Doc Martin who is going to be on Ben and Kate? I love her!

Can you ask your H to call and cancel the appointment for you?

He did set an appointment time, without even asking me. He handed me a card with a date and time, he didn't even say "is next tues ok?". He didn't even say the date out loud. He wrote it on a card and handed it to me. H calling is a good idea. I don't want to email, I don't want a response.
I put the card in a ziplock then washed my hands.

Wiki, I'm skeeved out just reading about your meeting. I bet the only way he gets people to come back is by making appointments for them. The ones that can't bring themselves to cancel are the only ones he sees more than once.

Maybe some of the female clients can't resist his good looks. Seems a real charmer.

Wikid - it was brave to go and to try him. You never need to go back. But trying was good. He sounds like a total nutball. Which on the good side, makes it super easy to cross off - no agonizing over him as a choice. Take a shower, remember you in all probability did not get anything from his office, even if yucky, and have a good play with the dogs. If you would rather not call him, I suggest mailing him a letter saying you are not coming back and not to contact you. Keep a copy of the letter.

Thanks everyone. So H came home, called his voicemail, listened thru to beep then handed the phone to me. I simply said, this is Wikid Pissah, please cancel my appointment for next week, I have decided to go with another therapist. Then he lit his business card on fire (which weirdly smelled like cigarettes). I feel like a big baby, but it really messed with my head. Kind of a sensory flashback, intense. I called Frau T

Wow, I felt the anxiety just reading about creapy AOL guy! I'm glad you cancelled that appointment. I'm even happier that you were empowered enough to leave the message yourself. I went to a T about 5 times whos office was a hole in the wall, dirty carpets etc. I was so happy when I found the place I go now because everything is so clean and bright. I hope everything works out for you!

Why does she need you to sign release forms? Why can't she just ask you what she wants to know instead of having to talk to your previous therapist? (I'm assuming it was your previous T she wanted you to sign the release form for.) If a new T wanted to get me sign a release of information at the first meeting, I would question her assessment skills (why can't she draw her own conclusions after interviewing me?) or I would wonder if she didn't believe me for some reason? It would make me nervous to have her ask for a release and I probably would not give it to her either, especially so early. If we got to know each other after a few sessions and she had a specific reason to talk to my former T that made sense, I would probably give the release. So good for you, to not give permission at this early date. Other than that, she sounded quite promising! I hope you give her a second try, especially after the disastrous meeting with the AOL dude.

Horrific nightmares last night. I dreamed that my house was infested with cockroaches. We kept hiring exterminators but it kept getting worse, and they were dropping from the ceilings. So icky. I am still having this sensory flashbacky thing, the smell really set something off in me. I don't even know what the flashback is, but it is real and scary. Ugh.
The release forms were for my pdoc and primary card doc. The law here states that they need a health record, but I did write down "results of last physical and lab work only". I didn't want him sending any mental health notes he may have. I didn't sign the pdoc release, as I don't really need my pdoc anymore. I do have an appointment with him next week though.
