Apt - here is more info. The ones I use are just lightbulbs that fit into any lamp.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full-spectrum_light

There are studies that say they don't work.

They are that inexpensive? The ones I was looking at online were at least 100 bucks.

Wow, you know you're in a horrible drought when you wake up to a steady, pouring rain and standing water all over the paddocks and think, "What a beautiful morning!"

Regarding light therapy, here is one I am asking for from my husband for the holidays:
http://www.ecrater.com/p/3402092/por...t-boxsad?gps=1

It has led's that are in the "right" spectrum that is supposed to help, and it's way less expensive than others I have seen.

Time to go. Just got majorly triggered. See you all later. I feel ashamed that I am triggered so easily after being in therapy for so long. I must not have made any progress. Maybe I don't belong here.

Good morning! It is beautiful day here, it is supposed to be close to 70 and sunny! Looking forward to playing outside with the puppy and the kids.

On and a different note.. I can still hear the voice of my father scolding my sister that I wrote about last night. It's weird, there would have been a time a couple of years ago, that I am sure it wouldn't have bothered me some much, but it is. There were def sone perks to my dad living across the country!

Hey couch peeps....not in a very good mood today. I am prepping to visit a friend that I haven't seen in a long time...That's a good thing, right? I'm sure I'll be happy to see them when I get there....but at the moment, I'm just agitated. My daughter is being a real PITA and I can't stand it when she's lazy and slobbish. Is slobbish a word? Well, if not, it is now. Sick of it. And, of course, I end up being the bad guy cuz I'm in a bad mood cuz of it. God forbid she get off her arse and do something helpful....

There are full spectrum light bulbs and then there are the light box therapy lights. I paid about $100 for my light box. They are different I think.

I don't remember all the facts now, but I think there was a difference between the blue light and the white light. Also check the power of the lamp (LUX or whatever it's called) because it makes a difference in how long you have to use it each day. Mine is 10,000 LUX so I only use it 10 minutes in the morning and will build up to 20min as it gets further into winter.

Well, no, it's a fair bit up to the Circle... that is, I think it's far (955 kilometers - I tried converting distances and I think it is 593 miles) but I'm of course much closer than you are I've never been north of the pole circle, so I've never seen the midnight sun. But in the summer it never gets completely dark, even though the sun isn't up... you get a couple of hours of a kind of dusk some time after midnight but it's light enough to read by (which is of course the only important thing )

Sorry, I don't want to be a walking infodump. Thank you for the hugs.
I rather like walking infodumps! I am fascinated by the phenomena of the midnight sun and the winter darkness. I have dreams where it is daytime at night; obviously not like the midnight sun where the sun moves around the horizon, but it's daylight at night.

I hope it wasn't me, Jersey, I'm serious. I feel my thread can be triggering. Don't say you don't belong here. You do.

I don't actually know anything about Swedish. My bad.

This is the lightbox one of my former clients had:

http://sunbox.com/?products=sunlight-jr

I am not sure this had an effect. Then again, her psychiatrist diagnosed depression and SAD where psychotic disorder NOS would've been more appropriate. That's a whole 'nother story.

I'm sorry - I didn't mean to sound dismissive. I was just intrigued.

Most of the world's languages have a different word order than English and the Scandinavian languages (which makes us Way Cool!)

Almost....11 years old....She has my snarky attitude, so perhaps I haven't been the best influence.

She's an awesome kid and I love her more than anything in this world. I am doing the best I can as a parent, and we generally have a great relationship.

It's just this one area....of laziness and being a slob....that I can't tolerate. My house is a disaster to begin with...and I'm trying to get it in shape to possibly rent out or sell because of my financial crisis...and not a day goes by that she doesn't wreck it even more.

Is it too hard to put your dirty clothes where they belong...and NOT on the living room floor? Does the ketchup bottle have to stay out forever? When you leave the room, can you make more of an effort to PICK UP your trash and throw it out rather than step over it????

Does anyone else remember the northern exposure episode where the town grouchy old guy got addicted to his light therapy headset and they staged an intervention?
