Got back from the big sale and spent way too much $$$ but I got a huge stainless steel bowl for making bread. Also took care of a bunch of Christmas shopping there. I will be done with shopping before Thanksgiving so I can work on crafts and homemade gifts and not deal with all the chaos in the stores.

I won't deal with Christmas before Dec 2. On Dec 1 I take a giant deep breath, and then I exhale on Dec 26.

I did put in my order for a present though. Told daughter I want one of those zentangle kits that granite was writing about.

We had pizza and wings and my neices b-day party for dinner.

My dad was at that party.. heard him yell at my 9 year old half sister (his daugther with another woman) and it took me back to a bad place. Feeling, I don't know now... anxious, sad, yucky. Grrrr!

This is very cool. I was able to translate the main page to English, but the parts that did not translate (i.e. the map itself), I was able to translate through inference. I am constantly fascinated by how English is found in other languages. For instance, "41 dagar till vintersolstånd," dagar was easily translated into days. It was very interesting to hear "winter solstice" in "vintersolstånd". Thank you for sharing.

Are you very close to the Arctic Circle? I definitely understand how such a short day would cause SAD. I deal with depression every day, so I feel for you, Apt.

Hey everyone.

Wiki...interesting "tea". I would try it if I didn't hate ginger so much. How does it last so long considering organic honey is used? Is the mixture self-preserving?

Sconnie...never watch "Baggage". Jerry Springer hosts, so that pretty much tells you everything you need to know. I guess I'll have to break down and play SongPop. I'm jealous of both your haircut (I haven't cut my hair in a year) and the fact that you got a lot of Christmas shopping done!

Sally...breathe.

Healed...I'm sorry you were triggered.

Murray...hope you sleep tonight.

Granite...hope you had fun crafting. I am also interested in the Zentangle.

CE...maybe I don't want to go to California.

Stopdog, MKAC, Ike, Jersey...hello!

I remember why I hate crying. It felt lousy when it was happening, although it felt cathartic directly afterward. Now, my entire face is swollen.

Danish is even more fun, because the word order is often exactly the same as English.

I'm in here bouncing up and down on the couch. Not frenetic Tom Cruise on Oprah's couch, but a nice steady jumping.

Welcome to couch number 23!

That's up to you, of course. I think you will like it when you get there.

I have absolute confidence that you will master this challenge, and when you do, it will enrich your whole life.

Crying sucks... It sucks the life out of ya and it sucks any happiness away with it too..

Fake friends suck. People who lead you on suck. People who let you spill your heart out and take you in only to drop you on your face later suck. Ugh. I'm going to have to call my T tomorrow but I'm so scared of crying around her still (because it makes me feel very weak and vulnerable) and I know i'll break down crying on the phone.

You lost me there, CE - can you give an example or a pointer to an explanation? I mean, it's true that Danish w.o. is like English w.o., but it is equally true for Swedish (and Norwegian). We have the same basic word order: subject - verb - object. There are some quirks and word order changes that are different in the different languages, but not very many, and I can't think of any where Danish is like English and Swedish isn't.

Be careful or I'll start explaining how the words are related through shared history or loans Yes, it is pretty cool when you see those things so clearly, isn't it!

Well, no, it's a fair bit up to the Circle... that is, I think it's far (955 kilometers - I tried converting distances and I think it is 593 miles) but I'm of course much closer than you are I've never been north of the pole circle, so I've never seen the midnight sun. But in the summer it never gets completely dark, even though the sun isn't up... you get a couple of hours of a kind of dusk some time after midnight but it's light enough to read by (which is of course the only important thing )

Sorry, I don't want to be a walking infodump. Thank you for the hugs.

morning everyone
wiki zen tangle is great. it was created by this Buddhist and his wife.the story goes he found her amazingly relaxed and unaware of his presence when he came to see her drawing at her favorite spot and it hit him that he had spent many years studying the Buddhist ways to accomplish what she was doing with her drawings and the came up with this method
anyone interested in it should find someone who is certified to teach it and the proper ways to use it as a method of relaxation .it is awesome if taught properly

Could you tell me more? Are they light bulbs you can have in a lamp you are exposed to in the evening, or will that send your sleeping patterns out of whack? I have no say in the lighting at work, and that's where I spend a lot of the daydarkness hours... but I might be able to have a lamp with a special lightbulb somewhere at home.

I have one of these in my bathroom. They are very bright but do help with SAD too. I'm in the states and picked one up at a home store for about $7. You'd have to see if they fit lamps. I think they are slightly larger than incandescent or the florescent bulbs. From my personal experience, I would not want them in a lamp I use in the evening. I think they would throw off your sleep.

Additional info: If you've see those Otte lights for sewing/crafting - they are roughly the same thing in bulb form.
