I can completely imagine how hard it would be to lose one that way though My boy is 26 and I suddenly realised how NEVER ready I'll be, let alone for it to be like that. He's been the one things that's stuck with me for the last 11 years. So Fingers crossed!

I'm guessing you use a mobile vet service? Do they have a portable x-ray?

I still have my first horse. He's 30 this year, and starting to really struggle with keeping weight on and he's become a bit senile. And he does not see or hear all that well. Before, the rest of the herd was caring for him -- keeping track of him in the pasture, making sure at least one other horse was with him all the time. Lately though, they have started to just leave him when he wanders off or is disoriented. It's hard to watch, though it doesn't happen often. He still seems mostly happy.

No cool plans this weekend. My daughter is finishing up her driving time for driver's ed this weekend. A friend and I were talking about getting together to make horse treats. I was thinking I might make Christmas candy. Nothing dramatic or exciting. How about you?

Wiki - Thanks for the info! I'm going to have to figure out something decent for breakfast today. I have eggs, but they kinda gross me out. I have pre-packaged cinnamon oatmeal - but whenever I have anything sugary in the morning, my sugar crashes a couple hours later. Hmm....Maybe I'll have some toast with a tiny bit of peanut butter. That's at least something!

Do you have steamer bags? I put a couple of eggs in those sometimes with a little cheese and then you can smush them up into scrambled eggs. I microwave them. My son finds them less gross that way.
Thanks for this!

I'm sure they have a portable x-ray but it wasn't with them today. They think he'll pull through and that it's not as serious as a break (but they said he looked bad enough that it easily could have been). Stressful. I hope they're not wrong.

My first horse dying was what gave me the push to finally get therapy. I barely ate for 6 months afterwards. I don't cope well with losing horses, so he better be ok!

T didn't reply to my text about it, or any other important texts this week (I don't usually text). The relationship seems rocky but it's not like her really, to not reply for no reason....so she better also be okay, even if it turns out she just doesn't want to put up with me anymore.

I won't eat eggs...but I have to cook them for H sometimes. They are nasty. I love it when he asks for hard boiled, then I don't have to crack them open. lol. Scrambled don't look too bad either. I have a little shaker/blender that I crack them into and shake them up so I don't really have to look at them.

H bought chicken on the bone last week, and I had to cook it. THAT was nasty, I was gagging. Meat is slimy and bloody and gross. I just don't get how someone can look at that and think "yummy".

Nightlight, so sorry about your horse. Having an sick animal or child is excruciating. So helpless.

Okay, THIS is the reason I'm still married: my husband went in to wake our 18 year old son. I walked in and H was in bed with our son, and they have their arms around each other, and our son's head is on H's shoulder. Sound asleep, of course. But THAT is the man I married. Tender and kind.

awww, so sweet MKAC. What I wouldn't give to have had a father like that! Isn't it cool that we can break that abusive cycle for our kids?

Yeah, my T referred to my marrying H as a "mistake." I don't think it was. I picked someone "safe" so that I was sure I would absolutely NOT have to deal with abuse toward me or my children. He has not been a perfect father, particularly to our daughter, but he would never dream of abusing anyone.

It's not the cooking of the eggs that grosses me out as much as the eating....haha. When my body needs protein, I end up craving eggs - and eat them every day for 2-3 days - then I'll get grossed out again and won't eat them again for years. LOL

Wiki - I used to make chicken wings for my ex - and having to cut through the bone to separate the wing from the tip was just as gross as it could get. (( shudder ))

Aww, MKAC - That's adorable. Take a picture! Those moments are to be cherished.

My paranormal group leader is having a Christmas party for our group at her house tomorrow night. My daughter is going to sleep over my sister's house, so I'll be a free woman and plan on having some fun...if this migraine would let up. I'll be making spinach dip and taco dip. Yum!

I went to Michaels with my daughter earlier in the week and I thought of you. I get so excited in the paper section, I love all that scrapbook stuff. I don't do it because I am really impatient and I tend to start things and not finish them. I have managed to scan all of my precious memories and made a digital history of my children's lives. I have had some books custom made for them as well.

My horses are so cool! LOL. My youngster is a total clown. The farrier was working on him yesterday, and he kept trying to take the guy's hat off. When I told him to quit, the colt started using his lips to rub the guy's back. Farrier said only his wife is allowed to massage him and asked the horse to quit. LOL.

A few hours? In this day and age, that's an eternity.
