Jersey is off to bed. I feel like I ran a marathon when in reality I have not moved off my lazy a s s.

On snow: I like a little bit of it. Not a lot.
On School: School was no safer than home. I went to an inner city public school that was on a list of one of the 10 worst schools in the city. I wasn't bullied per se, although with friends like the ones I had- I didn't need enemies.

I went to an authentic Chinese restaurant with a friend (who happens to be Chinese) last week. We had salt and pepper tofu and I loved it. I found a recipe and tried to make it tonight, but I messed it up a bit. It was still pretty good, so dinner was tofu and kim-chee (I KNOW -- sacrilege to mix Chinese and Korean foods).

Today was pretty horrible in some ways. We found out that the car we helped my daughter buy has a significant problem that the seller had to know about and mislead us about. We found out that the high school counselor did not send in the secondary school report that was required for his applications (and told my son he HAD sent it). That was the reason that he did not get accepted to any of the colleges that he applied for through the one scholarship program. They said they didn't even consider his application for the full scholarship because his application was not complete.

However, despite being really angry, and upset, I am not depressed. I am not completely overwhelmed. THAT is good news and kind of a new thing for me.

I was at Denny's two nights ago and people came in dressed up in full costume after the movie. And the only ordered from the Hobbit menu that Denny's has. It was amusing.

OK, it is officially Christmas time. I have seen the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. My favorite part is Linus reading the Christmas Story. Kind of strange for a skeptic. Peace on Earth is a lovely sentiment, however impractical or distant it may seem.

Bussing? As in riding the bus? Has to be the worst part of my high school experience. Constantly worried I'd miss the bus, or be forced out of my usual spot, or some kid would make the bus driver yell, or I'd fall asleep and miss my stop. Etc.

No, I was referring to what was effectively a forced racial integration of schools, by bussing kids to schools dominated by other ethnicities.

It was hugely controversial at the time and I imagine it was abandoned some time in the 1970s.
