We can trade ages anytime you want... hmm actually that would be a nightmare. I don't know what I'm gonna do 61-65, but 41-45 were NOT the best years of my life, so...

But lookit, 40 is the new whatever, you're on a fun project that will give you the ability to change jobs if you want, work wherever you want for the next so many years. The kids are grown. The w - really, you know you can do better than her crabby butt. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a complainer. I take so much, then I'm gone. Maybe t is changing me on that, idk.

There hasn't been any confirmation that the explosions were due to bombs, but there were two explosions near the finish line of the race. Could be gas lines.

There were injuries, but the numbers seem to vary wildly from news outlet to news outlet.

That's true, you can see the explosions pretty clearly in videos but no evidence yet of a bomb. It would be an amazing coincidence, and there aren't many things that are that explosive (a news reporter said it could be felt blocks away) in front of the library. But it's not confirmed.

Definitely going to walk home today.

Pretty bloody, yeah -- BUT I have not yet heard any reports of deaths. I hope it stays that way. Anyway, I won't bring the couch down. I will say, though, that I've been battling with my mood and feeling overstressed these past few days, but this kind of thing puts stuff in perspective. Things could be worse.

On a lighter note, Kelly Clarkson has a song that always makes me think about my husband, not that I would ever tell him that:

I really like middle age. I am looking forward to older age. I have always wanted to be grown, I hated being young. The only two parts that give me pause are I can't see as well (I have always worn glasses but now the reading part is effed up) and I don't heal as quickly. That is it - seriously, everything else is super with me. You can look forward to doing stuff just because you want to, not because of children or jobs or anything else - just because you want to do it or try it. Go camping with the dog for 5 days. Go motorcycling, go hike the Appalachian Trail, learn to make your own sausage or bacon or vegan blog or whatever. Super great I think.

Hey, granite, are you in Florida? I read this article today: What Did Your Mother Teach You? | Discussing Dissociation and I thought about you and your therapist. I was thinking about how courageous you are to even try with a female therapist. I am certainly not there yet.
Thanks for this!

Not that I think you're dissociative, granite! The article just talks about the difficulties of trying to work with a female therapist when you have the shadow of the "bad mother" looming over the work.

Yeah, the third one is nowhere near the marathon. And I guess they found a "suspicious package" at the T stop by my home. DEFINITELY walking, and leaving now! Freaky and sad .

Okay, I'm off for a while. Getting too pissy. Have a good evening everyone.

Hankster, glad you liked it. That blog has some pretty good articles about trauma and mothers like ours, that might be helpful even for folks who are not dissociative.

Be safe Sally. I'll walk home with you.

Just finished my taxes. Glad I didn't wait until the last minute.
