Ohh... that sounds so much better than a turkey sandwich

I'm doing okay. My son goes away on a trip so I'm doing laundry so he can get all of his clothes ready.

I plan to take a load of stuff to goodwill today, of course there is lots of laundry to get done and I want to push my son a little to get stuff going on his Eagle Project...
I had given my name and number at the feed store for them to give out if people didn't want their Easter chicks and ducklings after they were not cute anymore. A guy called me about his kids' ducklings. So today we went and picked up two young duck hens and he even gave me the coop he had made for them. So the morning was spent mowing the giant dog pen, and moving the coop (it was crazy heavy). The ramp we tried to use slid down and collapsed on my H, and he was a little pissed because he had SAID we should block it in place, and he was totally right. So.

Anyway, my ducks are crazy cute. One is white with black spots, and the other looks like a mallard hen, but no black markings.

I also picked up a bunch in the yard, and started getting rid of some stuff from the office that is stuck in our garage. The rest of the day will involve a shower and going to buy staples for the house, like t.p. and bread and you know, stuff.

This just makes no sense to me. Truly beets have the most horrifying taste ever. I quite literally would rather lick dirt.
Thanks for this!

Oh, I also repaired a cedar bench we bought at an auction. It seemed nice and sturdy when we looked at it and sat on it before the auction, but then this very, very large lady sat on while the auction was going on. When we went to load it, the legs were wobbling all over the place. We didn't want to say anything and make the lady feel bad, so we just took it and I reinforced the legs today.

Well. I am home from seeing my cousin's kid (I guess that makes him my second cousin). My grandma and aunt asked if I thought he we cute. I don't think any baby is cute really...so I said "it's a baby"...and they got mad and said it was a sarcastic answer. Hey, at least I was being honest. What should I have done? Lied and said he was the cutest baby ever? Oh well. I've learned that sometimes I piss people off and I just don't simply care anymore. They'll live and get over it.

I have taken my dogs duck herding. Sometimes dogs who are not super into herding can turn on to ducks (they flap and sometimes quack which one of my dogs found quite invigorating) when they won't turn on to sheep. My dog loved it, the ducks were not hurt, and I also got duck eggs from time to time - yum. I have thought about getting 3-5 ducks for my dogs in the back yard, but I worry about them getting stolen or killed.

I find all of the discussions of your herding dogs so enjoyable. Never knew dogs would herd ducks and now I am grinning imagining it. Thanks

I love my herding breed and can't imagine having any other.

Here are some pictures of duck herding:

Thank you for the link Stopdog.
I think it would be great to get some ducks for your dogs to herd and to provide eggs for you to enjoy.

Well, just messaged one of the PE teachers at my school on facebook to see if the Wii the kids sometimes used in PE this year was her personal one or a school-owned one. If it was a personal one, I asked if the school PE department wanted mine.

I figure if I haven't used it in about 3 years (been in my storage closet for the past year) that I am probably not going to use it again. I guess I could try to sell it an make some money, but it is an older model (bought in in 2008) so it wouldn't sell well. Plus I looked on craigslist and there about 15 other ones for sale in the area. So, I decided I'd try to donate it to a good cause.

If the school PE department doesn't want it, I'll probably ask the school secretary if she knows of any low income families who might like to have a Wii but can't afford to buy one. I would be willing to give it to someone like that as well.

I don't know why, but I feel better when I donate my things places rather than trying to sell them. Even if where I donate them to will turn around and sell them (i.e. Good Will)..at least the money they get from it will go to a good cause.

I usually give stuff away just because it is so much easier than selling it.

Yes, that's entirely fair.

But when you give up on this style of therapy, don't give up on all therapy. And especially don't give up on yourself.

Well, just heard back from the PE teacher...she said the one they used this year was her kids/a personal one she would just bring in sometimes and that the PE department would "love" to have their own.

Looks like I found a home for it and my physical activity games. Now just to find homes for my fun games (i.e. Guitar Hero) and educational games (i.e. Trivial Pursuit).
Thanks for this!

I love my plumbers tape too! I have changed apartments many times, always have a fancy shower head, and even fixed a leaky handle at the mothers. But it's not something I grew up with, like an iron or hair curlers, which don't really solve problems. Or go vroooom!

Hankster, this reminds me of the first time I heard my dad refer to pipe dope. I was a teenager and could not comprehend it had nothing to do with getting high.

As I've mentioned, I own two herding breed dogs, and I'm concerned about the younger one hurting the ducks. She is entirely too excited about them. The older dog is better about guarding and herding only in a "safe" way. The younger is part heeler and will nip and bite.

I do love duck eggs!

CE, I "let" my husband use my power tools today. LOL. He is so proud, and I am happy for him and with him. I still won't let him use my chain saw because he's left handed and I'm afraid he will get hurt.
