My T does T.A amongst other things but we've only very briefly touched on it. But what she did explain made a lot of sense.

That's on oldie but a goodie. I remember in the 70's the book I'm OK, You're OK came out. My mom had a copy of it. I can remember her saying I had a very strong "parent". She knew me well.

I did it 30 years ago. It was cool.

I wonder if it's a simplified version of IFS (which I like a lot and is also cool)
About Internal Family Systems.

I did a search a few months ago for TA therapists, being intrigued about what I was remembering about TA, and couldn't find any. It's like it's faded/fading away.

Yes I'm well aware that the ok corral is 'just' a part of TA, sounds like your parent part was speaking there! What is it that you wish to discuss?

Hmm. It doesn't sound like there are many of us who have a lot of experience with it. That's frustrating - at least for me it is when I am excited about something and can't finding anyone to share with.

Sometimes teaching others is a good way to expand one's understanding. I would love to hear about TA and how it works, and have someone to ask questions of etc. Would that interest you?

Hmmm. Are you familiar with IFS (Internal Family Systems)? If so, how do they compare?

If not, what is your favorite part of TA. It was a long time ago. As I remember, the foundation was fairly simple, but then as you delved deeper into things, it got more complex. But I don't remember the deeper. I remember the parent, child, adult, and being okay, or not okay.

It's about accepting the fact - 'I am ok'.That fact becomes clouded, so not believed .

Love your icons!!

I would like to know why I always seem to be in the "child" state and allow myself to be treated in this state by my H, boss, dominated by everyone basically?! I feel that my opinions don't matter. I find it really hard to stand up for myself. I always think I am a failure and that everyone else does life better (work/parenting etc). I think it all stems from being in that child state? Have just been told I am useless for so long I believe everyone.

I'm finding this very powerful. It reminds me of a concept in the person-centered approached called congruence. At first the connection wasn't clear to me. Congruence is about your internal state being consistent with your actions. It's a lot more complicated than that, but a place to start. And when I thnk of "I'm okay" I think that maybe "I'm okay" is about the most congruent space one can be. No judgments, no blaming.

That's what comes up for me immediately. I'm going to think about "I'm okay" today. I'm really liking the idea of exploring what this means. When do I feel okay, and when don't I.

Thanks.
