Were you expecting a new housemate?

I feel your pain, BP. The older I get, the more contrary. And I was pretty contrary to start.

Hugs, BPA. I think that the older we get, the harder it is to live with strangers. (not that I am suggesting you are ancient, just not 21 any more...!)

Hello and goodnight couch. Hope all you Americans had a great Labor day (sorry to hear about the rain).

I have had an unexpected influx of work so I haven't been here much. I should be asleep but my mind is tired and my body is not.
Thanks for this!

But she has brought a vacuum cleaner!. I've been badgering the real estate for months now. As being a student house all household items should be provided.

Lola, my main T recommended dbt also, but I ended up doing cbt for more pressing issues. If anything were to happen to main t, god forbid, i would probably end up doing dbt

I did end up buying an ebook workbook on dbt to get an idea of the general concepts.

It's the first "school night" of the new school year. YIKES! My daughter is in the shower and soon we'll be going through the motions of trying to get her to wind down and go to bed - but her nerves will be so shot that she won't be able to fall asleep. Typical.

She still didn't finish her book, although she read more than 100 pages today. She still has over 100 more to go. *sigh*

Her outfit for tomorrow is picked out and ready to go. Her backpack is packed. Need to figure out if I have to make her a lunch - and if so, I will get that done tonight.

We're on track. LOL.

DBT is showing it's for people with Borderline Personality Disorder. I have said this all along, maybe I was right.

You are always right, LC.

I had a productive day. Carried two loads of cardboard to the recycling center and now can park one car in the garage. Made wings on the grill, went on a picnic and had a two hour nap.

Anyone can benefit from DBT, Lola. My brother (who is quite mentally healthy, in contrast to his sister) used to teach DBT skills, and found them so insightful that he would incorporate them into his own life. It was designed for people with BPD, but it borrows heavily from Zen principles, which many people have used to their benefit, BPD or not.

I hope you can get some relief.

Just some thoughts -
Is your daughter old enough to take responsibility for her own lunch prep?
Have you tried doing breathing or guided imagery with her to help her wind her down? Just the gentle breathing, picturing quiet places sort of stuff? There are free podcasts and stuff out there.

Thanks, SD. My daughter is definitely old enough to prep her own lunch, although that's something I usually enjoy doing so I never ask her. Tonight, she took the initiative to get it ready herself.

I've never tried guided imagery to help her wind down. When she was younger, I used to play a Yanni CD and she loved it. I might try to go back to doing that, because we've made a bad habit of her falling asleep while watching TV - and she insists on having the TV on in order to fall asleep because she gets scared without it on.

OMG, I'm afraid to leave my house at night now....There are some HUGE spiders making long stringy webs outside....I killed one that was on the front door frame last night. There's one on a web string from my bushes to the house....and now I just sprayed one that was on my deck hanging from the gutter. OMG, it was HUGE, and I know that the spray didn't kill it....and it fell...and now I have to become a hermit.

Mue we have those huge spiders too.... I finally found spider spray at home depot....I wait till the spider has a nice big web made so its not moving like it is when its making a web and then go out and spray.... They are creepy the body of the spider is almost as big as a quarter and that doesnt include the legs...

That being said we dont kill the ones that live outside our bay window.... We use those as a sort of science education thing where we can safely watch him (we named him Boris) from inside the house.
Thanks for this!

((((( shudder )))))

Heebie jeebies all over again. I sprayed the spider with ant killer - so I think it probably just annoyed him. I'm seriously afraid to go outside now. I was planning to take the trash and recycle out now - but it will have to wait until morning. I am not risking having it land on my head.
