I'm finding it very hard to cope in between therapy days. Due to limits on medical plan I can only attend therapy once a month or so, the rest I have to pay myself. Cash is tight, so this is not possible.

I go to a free support group every two weeks, and I find that it does help a bit. Of course it does not address my specific problems.

Can anyone give some advice on how to get through the minutes, hours and days while waiting to see your therapist .....

I find gaps between therapy sessions very hard and I don't think I could cope with going once a month, I'm really sorry you're having to.

Is it possible to change your medical plan? I'm just surprised anyone would think it's worth going once a month and not detrimental to you.

My top ways to cope between sessions are journalling and writing a draft email to my therapist. I also keep a list of helpful or comforting things he's said and reread that in gaps between sessions.
Thanks for this!

It is hard to cope between sessions sometimes but I can't imagine doing so for a month at a time. I'm sorry you have to go through that long of a wait. Maybe you should see if another medical plan is available.

I journal between sessions and do therapy homework. Since you only see your T once a month, maybe you could ask how to cope with the in between time because it is obviously a struggle.

THere's lots of websites out there that provide therapy worksheets that you could work on in between sessions. Might help depending on your issues.

As others have said, i think once a month isn't helpful and might actually be counterproductive.

I agree with this, also self help CBT workbooks are wonderful. You can find a specific issue you're dealing with and work at your own pace.

I empathize with those trying to make it a month. I can barely make it a week!

You know, if something your T said upset you... why not email your T about it, and include a "if you think this is better to discuss in person, could you print it off and bring it in?" because then you're addressing it while it's fresh, but also accepting that your T might not find it appropriate to email about.
