It was sort of a let down. I had bought a giant fire extinguisher and was ready to use it.

I am thankful that Thanksgiving is over!!!

Spent it w/people who only knew me way back when as a depressed, angry angry growlykitten. When being introduced to people and then they realized who I am they did a double take.

If a chicken family extended an invite to party then realized their mistake once a weasel showed up at the door, then you get the idea. Me as the weasel in this story.

By the end of the night people seemed to get over it and realized that I am not the same person at 41 that I was at 13.

Still glad that this day is behind me. Still glad I can at least see my family for xmas…and not a bunch of half strangers.

I hope your turkey hangover's aren't so bad. I took a few pics for BPA...but for some reason I couldn't post an album on my profile...
so here's a couple...

Tom was brined per Alton Brown, and roasted quickly to stay moist:

I love my place settings...they are Friendly Village (which you can still purchase today), but these are circa 1952.

I am so grateful for my family and friends -- including the friends I have found here.

I'm also about 1/3 of the way done with the baby blanket for Sally Brown and Baby Brown.
I'm so glad you had a great day!

Re: blanket... you so crazy! I you! You actually may be further along with that blanket than the one I am knitting for my own baby, lol! Granted, I have been sleeping for about 12 hours a day for the past two months.

I forgot to take pictures...

I know BP might not get this 90s television reference...Wiki's thanksgiving looks more like the Claire Huxtable's with my family it was a lot more like Roseanne's ...

We ate off of Paper Plates - although they were decorative with pumkins and harvest design (no turkeys on them cause my sister is a vegetarian and even her paper plates can't have pictures of meat on them)...

We had many of my favorite dishes... and many can's and packages were injured in the making of our thanksgiving dinner... Our turkey's were fried in peanut oil... we had stuffing (two kinds.. vegetarian and not - yet both from a package)... we had mashed potato - (okay they were real and probably the only thing not processed - my mother supervised my father making them since she hurt her shoulder)..green bean casserole that Cambells soup would be proud to call their own... sweet potato casserole that I made (oops even I used canned sweet potato), corn (I think that was frozen), and pies...(apple, cherry, pumpkin, coconut custard)

I made two apple pies but I have to admit crusts were from a package but I don't even like pie so to me that is as much effort as I was willing to put into it... but the apples were fresh

We did have a relatively good time. We talked about the fact that I had jury duty on Monday and everyone shared their past jury duty experiences (my sister's in laws were all there) and somehow felt inspired to share my prison "friend" story.

I think that I was more surprised by the tiredness of early pregnancy than the morning sickness. Enjoy your napping and going to bed at 7pm... you only get that with the first child....

I absolutely love board games. Unfortunately for me, no one else in my immediate family feels that way. The one night I asked everyone to play Rummikub with me you would have thought I asked them to all hold hands and jump off a bridge. In the end, my H made the boys play with us but it wasn't any fun cause none of them wanted to be there.

My sister's kids all love board games - so sometimes when they are home I do get to enjoy some board games. And those girls are SO competitive...it makes it lots of fun...

My brothers used to play Risk back in the day but I was always told I was too "young" to play so I never learned... but I like "Battleship"... It seems so juvenile to say this but I don't enjoy games that make you "think" too much. It seems too much like work...guess I'm just mentally lazy a lot of times...

I love board games, but my family thinks they're lame, so we don't play. We sit around and read. I get grief these days because I play on my tablet and don't just read a book. and they wonder why I prefer to spend time with others...

I get to play with my little niece today, though. She's three and awesome. That kid knows how to play! Come to think of it, her dad likes board games. Maybe I can get something going with his side of the family tonight.

I like to play cards, but I don't really like board games.

In the risk of confirming for people that I'm nuts... I'll tell you the trick I play on myself (crazy but it really works)... before I go to bed... I set the time on my clock by my bed so that I can set my alarm clock to what time I normally wake up... then I think okay time to get up...and I just do it...

It avoids the whole...ughh just five more minutes or I'm not doing it...

I guess I'm so fuzzy brained in the morning I forget I did it and then by the time I get downstairs I'm like oh yeah its really early but by then I'm already up out of bed.

Maybe you are too bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning to fall for that.. A bribe is a good thing too.

I just meant... set your clock so you are really getting up at 8am but your clock says 10am...

see I told you this would confirm I was nuts...

rts and cl, maybe you just need to find different board games? There are so many different kinds, it's hard to believe that anybody could hate the whole concept. H and I play a lot of board games. "Dominion" is one of our current favourites, it's a card game which is really easy to learn but has a huge number of variants because the combination of cards in the game is always different for each new game. "Dixit" is a storytelling type of game, it's a great game to play with a group of people who know each other reasonably well, and it works really well with mixed ages also. "Small World" is a bit like Risk but it's also really hilarious. For people who like to get a solid 5-hour game experience, you can do worse than "Arkham Horror" (which is collaborative - the players work together to win against the game) or the two-player game "Twilight Struggle" which is based on the history of the Cold War. But if your families are not BG fanatics, maybe that's not the best place to start...
