I guess that's understandable.

There are also random (stupid) questions thrown in here and there. One asks for their teaceher's name. Another ask for their science classroom number. Two others ask about Santa's reindeer. Things like that. Things the kids "should" know, but still if they are exchange students, they may not know the Santa ones, so not really fair questions.
Not a fair question, Precious! Hissssss! Gollum!

I'm sorry to barge in--and sorry I never respond to anyone too, it is rather selfish of me. I don't expect responses I just come here to vent. But I'm nearly in tears of anger and hurt. My Uncle is screaming at his 13 year old daughter over the phone, telling her it's her fault he has to pay child support and calling her mothers names. She was in tears when she got a hold of me, I was abused in all the ways and just it pains me to see my baby cousin go through it, she looks just like me and she's like a baby sister to me. I hate that guy SO much. I can't cope with this.

(MAY BE TRIGGERING) And on top of everything else, my friend sent me a video from ages ago of someone offing themselves at Niagra falls. Which is VERY triggering to me.

I am just holding to the fact that I had an excellent session today.

Child support is a very triggering issue for everyone involved.

Santa rides a regular - non-flying - sled here, with a horse, not reindeer. I agree that it's a weird exam question, and unfair to include stuff that has not been part of the syllabus.

Not rushing, I'd argue. It is what employment office agents tend to do, at least here - I'm terrified of becoming unemployed and having to register with the employment office - but the ideal would be that they allowed people to pass on jobs they are unfit for. Their job ought to be to find meaningful employment for people.

I suspect the teacher was trying to throw some playful, easy questions into the exam. It may or may not be misguided, but I don't think it sounds like the teacher was intending to be mean.

No, I'm sure there was no malice there, just a blatant lack of insight about what does and doesn't constitute shared cultural references. I don't exactly think it's a capital offense, but hopefully it won't be reflected in the final grade if a kid doesn't know it. It would have made more sense to ask about things like a school mascot or similar.

Hello Friends,

I work all the live long day. 7am till whatever time is finish time. Kids are now off for their winter break ( they go to a private preschool) so I don't know how much I'll be able to check in here today. T sent me a text that she appreciates having me in her life. Yikes.

CC-goid luck with the appt.

I'm outta here.

Thanks, RTS. Yes, I had the appt. It wasn't wonderful, but it wasn't bad either. T said two things I'll try to keep in mind over the break: first, he has seen positive change since I started coming, and in the last couple of months I have done at least two things that I would not have been able to do a year ago. Second, he said that this will take time, he believes there are no shortcuts, and he is prepared to put in as much work as it takes. I'm very grateful that he ended the session on that note, it made me leave in a better frame of mind.

Have a good day Jersey!

Mast- Glad your appointment wasn't too bad and that he was able to point out a couple positive things to hold on to over break!

Good morning, RTS!

My son and I are hanging out at home today until I have to leave for basketball practice and then T appointment.. I always get so paranoid that he is going to cancel the appointment before a vacation..

Mast I'm glad it ended well...Your T sounds like he is a keeper...

For me...the reassurance that I have made changes even though I want it to be "all better" now is so helpful and also that my T knows it will take time even when I think I should be able to "do it" faster and that he will be there for me all along the way... Those things are priceless in therapy!

Well, I am up and sort of ready for another day of reading. I have 2 hours before I have to be at school. Of course I have less than that before I have to leave, but school is only 10 minutes away from me. 2 more days and I get a break. Though, I will probably be bored out of my mind during it. 3 weekdays off at Thanksgiving drove me nuts. What am I going to do with 2 and a half weeks off? Hopefully, I can find something to keep me occupied.

Mast, that's interesting to note that Santa doesn't have reindeer everywhere.

SD, yes, I agree...the teacher was trying to throw in some "easy" questions to try to give the kids a little break from the real meat and potatoes part of the exam. I just agree with Mast, that more general questions such as "what school do you go to" or "what grade are you in" would have been more fair. Yes, he did have 2 questions that were basic/general: "what is your teacher's name" and "what is the classroom number of your science class", but more of those type of questions would have been better in my mind instead of using Santa ones. But, I guess the teacher was just trying to be nice and throw some "breather" questions in there. All in all, it is not a bad thing, just a little weird as some families have different stories for Santa. I had a chimney growing up, so I was told he came in through the chimney. Some of my friends at school did not have a chimney (not many houses in Florida do), so their parents told them Santa came in through the front door. Not all Santa stories are the same, even in the US.

The girl I am reading to today for the 8th grade science exam is from England (so at least the language barrier won't be a problem). I wonder if they have the same Santa story as the US? Okay...I'll stop whining about the Santa questions now. Afterall there is nothing I can do about them as I am just reading the exam and nothing more.

Glad to see your T and you discovering your making strides Mast
I am regretting telling XT I would meet with him, my anxiety is at an 11 out of 10. I almost wonder if staying T-less is like NOT poking the hornets nest. ugggg , I hate being broken

LC - I hope it goes well with old therapist. It would sort of creep me out to have one contact me out of the blue, but I hope you find him useful today.

Welll, we have emailed each other 2 times since I left. Last time was Nov. So its sort of out of the blue as he initiated it. He said he wondered how I was doing and realized I never responded to the Nov email. I see him at 5 and I'm not sure what will come of it, frankly I am surprised he would consider being my T still considering my history and us living so far apart. I may be better off with just a DBT therapist and a group in my own town. But honestly the support could be used to help me feel NOT so alone sometimes. AgainI may be poking a hornets nest and it has me sick just thinking about it.

SD I assume your therapy is status quo?

Sad, lonely, depressed. Staying in bed all day, as it's the only way to keep myself safe.
Sorry this sounds desperate...I apologize for my drastic mood swings. All this stuff with my mother is crazy. She hurt my feelings again. (I know, so what else is new). I don't know why I am so stupid to keep letting her back into my heart just to have her crush it.

I'll come back when I am in a "good wiki" mood.

Stop the world, I want to get off.

Hi couch. I have sad news this morning and I don't mean to bring down the couch but I'm working to assimilate this w/out calling ex-T and maybe typing it will help. I may call her anyway. I found out about an hour ago that my Dad passed away during the night. He had not been in the best of health, but this was not expected. I don't know what I am thinking or feeling at the moment.
