im only allowed phone contact between sessions .i don't like it at all.she will not even read an e-mail i send to her. it hurts i know .i hope you will be able to work something out with her so you will be able to text when you need to and feel ok about it

Hi couch.

I have therapy at 11. I'm going. She's going to have to give me a clear answer on why talking about the past at this stage in my therapy is important. Since starting with her, I've learned better coping strategies, learned how my past played a part in my decisions and relationships in life so far, learned how to not cast women into a "motherly" role, and am able to identify triggers. There are still issues to work on, but so far that's what we've done.

If she can't provide me with a clear answer on why we can't continue that work without bringing up details of things that happened in the past, then I'm going to say goodbye. Just makes no sense to me to continue if I leave feeling like crap all the time.

Thanks for the update, Mastodon. You certainly don't seem despicable to me (and I think pretty much everyone on the couch would agree with me).
Thanks for this!

Granite...

I am really hoping you find the strength to continue to say what YOU need to say. I know this is easier said than done but f her and say what you need to say it is YOUR hour and you have a right to have your voice heard. Not to mention you pay her to listen to you so speak your mind girl. I'll pocket ride too...if that helps.

It just seemed like a lot of people needed hugs today. If I left anyone out, I'm sorry.

Having a weird day so far. Actually woke up at a decent hour...8:30 am. I think my sleep cycle is normalizing; however, now that I'm not working, boredom is starting to set in. T told me last week that I should not think of myself as unemployed, rather that I have a new job: school. Speaking of school, I'd forgotten how boring reading academic journals can be!

You are not spamming, neutrino. Do you feel up to telling us what's going on? Is it the exam, or something else?
Thanks for this!

It's the exam and anxiety in general. I know it might be silly but I'm super anxious about this exam and I'm very afraid of failing. I spent so much time studying for the oral examination that I haven't had time to study for the final exam, which is on Friday. So now I'm awfully stressed and I have no idea how I'm going to learn everything in the days left until the exam. I'm incredibly afraid of failure (which you might already know) and I'm catastrophizing. Even though I know that's what I'm doing I can't seem to stop it. Instead the anxiety is "spreading" and I'm getting really anxious about a lot of things (but mainly the exam). I'm so exhausted and stressed and anxious that I can barely focus, I can barely sit still and I'm almost feeling physically sick. I just want to curl up into a ball and hide. Not exaggerating. And I hate myself for complaining so much.

EDIT: I'm quite bad at multitasking (I want/need to understand everything so I only focus on one thing at a time), which is why I didn't study for the final exam the same time as studying for the oral exam. I also find it incredibly difficult knowing what's important when it comes to the information in the textbooks etc. I'm not stupid, I just get overloaded.

Also, thanks for caring (I'm honestly surprised you haven't thrown me out of the couch by now).

Not today. I think I'll try to study with a couple of classmates tomorrow afternoon but I'm afraid I'll only make me more stressed out.

Heh... The students were arguing about which dinosaur would win against which dinosaur, so the teacher has been showing utube videos of dinosaur fights claiming it is academic and is science. Not that I care, not like I am going to report him for not doing real work.
