Just had my last EVER session with T!

This happened with me CBT on the NHS, My T at the time gave me 2 extra sessions.
Are you with the CMHT? They can refer you for Psychotherapy if not then ask your GP.

Ahdm; it's clear you need far more than CBT to help you. This is the NHS at it's best ( #worst) giving inappropriate therapy in the hopes it makes you go away, CBT is cheap and quick and that's why they dole it out. My advice is write a letter explaining the issues that still remain for you ie self harm, abandonment issues etc etc explain that you need further more in depth treatment and give the letter to your Dr or write to your CAAMHS team.

Also, look around your area for charities that might offer free counselling, if you're at college they should have a counselling services. Some private therapists will offer a sliding scale too so work out what you could afford and ask them.

My therapist referred me to CAMHS before I left, and so did her line manager last year.
I was with a charity that offered free counselling, and I think my insurance covered the payment - all I know was that I was referred to them in August last year by my GP.

Community Mental health Team, I have just noticed that you're 17 so you will be under CAHMS as you just said.

I guess my point and worry is that seeing as she already gave me 2 more sessions I doubt she would give me another one.

All of this was the calm before the storm - last night when I was alone in my room, it hit me. Hard. I have never felt so much pain and heartbreak and loneliness and abandonment in my life. I cried literally buckets, which is new for me.

The reason I wrote to my T was because it was only after the final session it dawned on me how difficult the ending was (I was fine during the actual session). It was when reality set in I began to feel really alone & sad.

Its such a shame you were only given 12 sessions on the NHS. Are you able to return to your GP for another referral as it just doesn't seem right that your therapy has ended this prematurely.

I've been to see my GP twice - the first time was after I OD'd in August, when I got the first referral. The second was in November after I stopped therapy for a while and then wanted to go back, so I got another referral from my GP then. I don't really think that I'd be able to get yet another referral, not to the same place anyway. My former T (that feels horrible to say

) referred me to CAMHS and SHYPP (housing help for people who don't want to live at home), so I can't ask any more of anyone. It wouldn't be fair on other people who need therapy with T, probably more than I do, and for me to just go back and ask for yet another referral, it would be selfish and I don't think he'd refer me there again - he probably would refer me to another service on the NHS.

Your not being selfish in the least ahdm as this is something you need. I can't understand why your therapy has not continued, it just doesn't seem right that you were offered so few sessions & they assumed that would be enough.

I wish I could offer some constructive advice as I feel for you. I hope CAMHS & SHYPP are able to help

Thank you. I think I've always been brought up to not share my feelings or my thoughts, or ask for help, so I've always felt if I talk about myself or ask for help from people that it's wrong and I shouldn't do that and I'm selfish...

I'm not quite sure either, but it is the NHS, so I'm not really surprised.

Just you replying helps me, as it shows that at least someone cares about me

You unselfishly think of other people.

I agree that your therapy seemed short and I wish something could be done about it. I hope that, at a minimum, you will continue to express yourself here.

Could you please explain what happened (or will happen) with your referrals to CAMHS & SHYPP?

Things have got worse at home - mum has confiscated a lot of things, internet being one of them, so I'm lucky I'm on here at all.

I'm not sure about my referral to CAMHS - I haven't heard anything from there as of yet, but I imagine they have a rather large waiting list, so I'm not expecting them to contact me any time soon. I think they might email me if they have any appointments available.
As for SHYPP, they emailed me last week suggesting an appointment/meeting with them on Thursday, however they didn't get back to me, and I'm still waiting on a reply from them. If it gets to Friday and they haven't replied, I might email them and ask if I am still able to have a meeting.

I will keep you updated on both CAMHS and SHYPP if you'd like?
