I had a great day yesterday, but feeling crabby and irritable today. I hate Mother's Day. So many bad memories. However, my son comes home from college today, so that will be wonderful.

My H and I are having this ongoing discussion about whether it is worth it to insist that people treat you with respect. He walks away from every conflict (except with me and then I get the brunt of his built up conflict stuff because he argues with me over the stupidest stuff). I tend to draw lines in the sand and then fight pretty aggressively when they are crossed. This meme sums up my philosophy, but H really disagrees:

I wanted to say Happy Mother's Day! to all women today.

You may not have given birth or adopted a child. But there are people that you may have "mothered" throughout your life that you may not even have realized. When I read those mushy cards on Mother's Day in total disgust at the thought of my own mother, two women that were in my life at different ages come to mind... one was the older woman who lived next door who didn't have any children of her own, who was like a substitute grandmother... and the other was my pastor's wife who let us hang out at her house all the time when we were teenagers...who was like the mother I wanted to have...

So to all the women who have ever taken the time to invest even a small part of yourself into another's life.... Happy Mother's Day.

Today, I want to die. It's been a long time since I felt that.

I am not going to, though.

Made it inside the concert venue just before the first band took the stage but had a hard time getting there, my mom had to transfer money over to me just to pay for parking.

I tend to have very strong boundaries but I don't really fight aggressively over them usually. More often I will simply disengage rather than insist that someone else has to do something a certain way. But I do realize wars would never be won if the revolution was stocked by people like me. I would go to Canada, for example, rather than fight either a war or congress on drafting people.

This guy invited me a few years ago to a new years eve concert and i got all excited, i was ready to be yelling "hello its me" when the guys i worked with explained to me the difference between todd rundgren and ted nugent. Duh! I was like, t, d, n, u - the names sounded the same to me.

That's OK I have gotten at least 3 bands playing today mixed up with other bands.

I would have quietly whispered it instead.

Years ago, when my kids were quite young, we had tickets to "Sesame Street Live". I was ill the day of the show, so my H took the kids. I told him to please stand up for me at some point and yell, "Free Big Bird!"

Glad your co-workers filled you in before the concert, not after.

Why would people yell free bird at a concert anyway?

Isn't Free Bird supposed to be the most requested song ever? Urban myth? I think so.

Does anyone have memories that are so unreal and perverted that you think you made them up. And then do you wonder what is so wrong with you that you would make them up to begin with.

I think that my problem is that my music collection is SO LARGE that I like many bands with similar names.

We have had an emotional roller coaster weekend. I get exhausted having someone near me changing moods and going from despair to hope to fear etc. every hour.

OMG, yes! Not any more, but for years I thought the flashbacks and memories were so bizarre, that I must be crazy and sick and making them up. I did have outside validation for some of the things, but not all. I don't know how common it is for people with traumatic memories to question themselves, but I know that those of us who have a dissociative disorder in addition to PTSD tend to questions ourselves quite a bit. Thank God for therapists over the years who helped me to understand more, and finally convinced me that I wasn't crazy. And, I'm thankful for God, because for me personally, so much of my healing and ability to make some sense of life has come from my relationship with God.

Sometimes the idea of me being a crazy, sick, manipulative liar who was desperate for attention seemed more appealing than believing the reality of the things I remembered.

It did help me a lot to find others who had experienced similar bizarre things, because I realized that those types of things actually do happen.

Stopdog, thinking of you and hoping things smooth out as much as possible. I know my father in law was up and down while my dad was pretty calm and philosophical about the whole thing. Your partner is so young, I think that makes it so much harder.

Ready, I ****ing HATE the abyss/pit. I have been slipping and sliding around the edge for the last few weeks. I really feel for you.
Thanks for this!

Hey all...
I had a nice weekend. S & D made dinner for my mother and I and H.... vegan stuff plus grilled salmon. It was finally nice outside, so I got to soak in some sun. I am still freezing though...I can't seem to get my bones warm.

I am home today, so I get to slack...yay.

I hope everyone's M-day was tolerable. Thankfully it's over for a year.
