since it can be so easy to focus on the negative i thought it might be good to start a daily thread where we can try to find 3 things each day we are grateful for. there is an author who did this and she found her mood really changed over time from learning to focus more on the positive.

i'll go first. we're currently in heatwave mode so i'm very grateful for:

- my a/c
- a ceiling fan in my bedroom which helps tremendously so i don't wake up exhausted
- my crazy & cute dog (bichon/minipoodle mix)

My T makes me list 5 things I'm grateful for everyday and then I need to send it to her weekly. It does help. Ok, I'm grateful for my job with great medical benefits, grateful for I can buy things I want (reasonable priced things), and I'm very grateful for my T. She has helped me a lot in the 4 years I've been seeing her.

~my job that while it can be stressful and I say I hate it....I know that I work with an amazing crew that can make things happen in the worst of situations and make a total difference in the life of someone in crisis.

~my amazing children who are loving and respectful..they will do anything for each other..and well they are strange in that the enjoy school...even when I try to get them to stay home sick they refuse to (I had one today who I thought should stay home after being ill last night...but he attended)...this has happened to all 3.

~ my wonderful husband who while he has faults like everybody else I know that he would give me anything in his power...no matter what happens he will always be there.

* My dogs - they love cuddles and kisses

* My snowboard - it's a used Burton Learn to Ride, but it is a rocket ship as far as I'm concerned

* My car - it runs well and it's paid off

1. I'm grateful that my therapist made time for me on a non-session day. I'm grateful she sent me a hug over the phone. I'm grateful she said I could meet her in person after initially saying no due to some confusion.

2. I'm grateful for a mostly peaceful day. I got some work done, gave some extra attention to my daughter and our pets, and now I get some quiet time to work and debrief.

3. I'm grateful for food in the fridge. I'm grateful for the fridge. I'm grateful for my kitchen with heat, running water, and electricity, and for my entire safe, beautiful home.

4. I'm grateful I can afford therapy (mostly).

5. I'm grateful for the opportunity to express myself.

6. I'm grateful for the abundance in my life of opportunities, professional, academic, personal.

I will be grateful tomorrow, I hope, for a little sleep, so I can maybe wake up and find it's easier to appreciate all these things instead of feeling like it's pulling teeth to be grateful!
Thanks for this!

1. I'm grateful for AmysJourney.

2. I'm grateful that she and I got to spend the past five days together.

3. I'm grateful that my T realized that I would need some extra support today and offered to call and do a phone session without me even having to ask.

4. I'm grateful that my flight was only an hour delayed today.

5. I'm grateful that the airport had good French fries at 10 in the morning.

I love these things! I have a journal I keep just for things like this.

Today I am grateful:

1) For the chance to make a difference.
2) For having milk for my morning coffee.
3) That I had a great and successful day yesterday and I feel accomplished.

It's only morning though

I'll be able to eat something other than the Peanut Butter & Honey sandwiches I've been eating all week!

Not that I wasn't grateful to have that, mind you, it'll just be nice to have something different today!

Woohoo! Well done!

I have a successful conference talk to be grateful for, too, so I think I know how you feel

I am also grateful for
* my T, and a very good session today
* my H, who did something incredibly sweet for me yesterday, which made me feel truly loved
* my cats, who make me laugh
* my friends - one friend in particular, who likes me despite knowing me rather well
Thanks for this!

1. My husband, I confided in him last night all about how I've been missing my family and about my request to meet my T. Good to have someone to share with even though he's not quite as talented at it as my T, haha.
2. My daughter, for keeping me active, always on my toes, and blessed with her beautiful presence.
3. My therapist, for putting her money where her mouth is and helping me control therapy costs when I really need it.
4. The birds, for singing outside my window on what looks to be another very pleasant day.
5. That it's Thursday: I have a very important appointment to improve my financial situation just a bit today.

This thread came at an opportune time because I'm terminating with my T today. Let's see...

- I'm grateful that I had a great experience at college with so many opportunities, and that I was able to make this place my home when at first I struggled greatly.
- I'm grateful that my relationship with my T was so beautiful, deep, and strong. She has taught me so much about life and myself. I will love her forever, and I'm grateful that she loves me too and this end will be hard for her as well.
- I'm grateful that I'm finally not in denial that everything is ending.
- I'm grateful that my experiences in college have challenged me to confront my social anxiety, and that I am now at a place where I feel that I am okay and I can love me.

I'm grateful for zyrtec (my allergies are killing me).

I'm grateful that we only have 16 more days of school left. Woohoo!

I'm grateful that my son has had such a good year and graduates in a few weeks. Wondered if we were going to see that day this time last year.

Today when I was driving home I thought to myself "I think I'm happy!" I was singing to the radio, in traffic, life was beautiful in that moment. I thought, this is the happiest I've felt in 8 years. In my mind I thanked my T, he is like an angel of god. And, I knew I could let go of him, at least for this moment, I knew it would be painful but I felt so strong. Still do feel like this a bit. Not that all my problems are solved and life is perfect now, but looking back on where I started, I can breathe, I don't want to die. I feel so grateful, so so grateful.

Today it will be much more difficult but let's try:
Today I am grateful for:
1) the fact that I know English
2) internet and searching tools (i.e. google)
3) having money (stupid, huh? It's the first time in my life when I am glad that I have a good job because of the income)

Today doctors told my Dad that the surgery did not go as well as everyone thought and there is not much what they can do, he will be suffering and not moving much till the end of his life (which apparently might take many years)... But I googled in English (in my mother tongue there was not much information) that there are quite few possibilities to repair what doctors f**k*d up and which of course cost a lot but if the whole family collects money we should be able to afford it (I hope)...
