Here lately, I'm sure that I have been. My h seems to be on a different planet even. Sigh.

We were having a conversation with an acquaintance, who was talking about marriage and how the relationship with one's spouse has elements of all other relationships: friend, lover, parent, child, co-worker, confidant... H was agreeing very emphatically with all of those and I was thinking about how that is not even slightly true from my pov. It can't be in a r/s where I am one of the partners, I guess. But it is so very weird that H thinks he is getting those things from our marriage. Good, but weird.

[edited to add: I mean, yes, we are friends, quite good friends even, and in some sense co-workers. I think that ought to feel like enough for me. I know I am unusually lucky.]

so. headed out and about. there's a splash pad that my oldest loves.

i think i might dress to get wet, or at least a little damp. i enjoy walking through it and getting water on me. keeps me cool when we go wandering about.

That's an interesting thought. And from one point of view, that would be true of all relationships.

I am baking bread today. I do it sparingly in the summer time due to the extra heat in the kitchen, but it has been overcast and rainy leading to cooler (if still quite humid) here for the last few days.

Mmm.. The smell of baking bread is so good! I've taken to making the dough in the bread maker but baking it in the oven. In cool weather, that is...

Not feeling particularly spiffy today, but it's probably the weather.

I used to bake bread, before the girls were born. I miss the meditation of baking.

Mmmmm, I love home made bread. I make it more often in the winter but still sometimes in the summer. I'm in the mood now, I think I'll stop and get some wheat germ on the way home tomorrow. That gives such a good, nutty flavor to the bread! Yum.

I do usually use the bread machine in the summer due to heat, but it is not as good to me as in the oven and kneading it myself. I do enjoy kneading.
I like making pretzels too - but they are a lot of work.
I will try adding wheat germ. I never have.

i am envious of you bread bakers in so far as that i hate to bake. i enjoy cooking, but baking... well i prefer it ready made or out of a box.

I don't drink much because it wrecks my already abysmal ability to sleep.

Morning all. Spent the weekend isolated from civilization. There was no cell or internet reception within 8 miles of where we were. It was lovely to spend time with D and my friends. I was hoping the little break would help my H be in a better mood and not so pissy with me (in the week before we left, he was acting like I was getting on his last nerve). But, no joy there. I have tried asking him repeatedly what is wrong or why he is irritated, so I can stop doing whatever it is. He, however, says he is not irritable and nothing is wrong.

I am sorry for the kitty losses on the couch. I hope you are both okay, Stopdog and pbutton.
Thanks for this!

Oh, can I share an incredibly cute story about D and my dog? I took the young dog on the trip with us. The other dog does not enjoy camping or being away from home as much and gets tense and doesn't eat. The youngster love, love, LOVES to go. So, the three of us are sharing a small cabin with two separate beds and the youngster sleeps with me. My D started to have a nightmare and was whimpering in her sleep. Youngster sat up and looked over at the other bed. When D whimpered again, Youngster very lightly leaped over to D's bed and nuzzled her and laid down down alongside her as close as she could get, with her face on the pillow next to D's. D's whimper changed mid-breath to a sigh of relief and she rolled over and put an arm over the dog and was smiling just a little. D didn't remember any of this the next day.

aaahhh time to kick back on the couch for a bit before I head to work. had some nice family time last night, hubby son and me sitting out in the backyard watching the storm come in before the rain got here. Lots of bright, big lightening and deep rolling thunder, smelling the rain in the wind, it was great. Our son is 15 and we don't get much family time with him, he's so busy with his friends and homework and band, so it was nice to have a rare half hour or so the three of us just being together watching the lightening.
Thanks for this!
