My sibling loves decorating and putting up the tree etc. Just different personalities.

We only put them up this year for our kids. If it was just us we would have left it in the box.

Kids or no kids, I'll still put them up. Love Christmas.

Random question, but has anyone ever roasted a butternut squash whole? I hate trying to split them (I'm clumsy and value my fingers too much, tyvm) for roasting. I'm reading different opinions on the interwebz on whether or not to poke holes in it, to tent the baking sheet with foil, etc etc etc. I just want to do this the easiest and least messy way possible!

Sorry, no. I've always split it. I just sharpen the knife and go at it. Still have all my digits so far.

You could cut the butternut squash across it first then split the two pieces. I have never done one whole - It would be interesting to try - the worst thing that could happen is a mess in the oven or it tastes bad - I would try it just out of curiosity.

I want to play video games all day. These are the only days I miss my pre-family days (including the husband because I have to share the XBox).

I would sit with junk food, booze, and my XBox if I had a day to myself and no one to bother me.

I chickened out (envisioning cleaning exploded squash bits and seeds from the inside of the oven as my friends arrive tonight) and ended up splitting it. Sometime when I'm not cooking it for use on the same day, I'll try roasting one whole.

Me too. I could totally go for a day of non-stop video games. We have PS3 and Wii, but no time to use them. Two kids keep us busy.

I did the same... Sat in front of the PS1 or N64 and got drunk and high. Daily.

I have not played video games with any regularity since my dad got us a Pong thing in the 70s. I played pacman (I think pacman - some maze like game) a couple of times in college.

I grew up with an SNES (although the NES was in my time too). Played Mario. Then in college, played PC games like Diablo II.

I only played Frogger with a little boy I babysat while a teen. I hate video games they increase my anxiety...my boys love them but I set time limits for their use and only allow sports games...

SNES! I was obsessed with Super Metroid back in the day! Super Mario World was fun, too. Didn't have an NES til 4th grade, so I played for hours at my friends' and cousins' houses. Kids have it too easy these days, not getting lightheaded from trying to blow dust out of the cartridges.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I couldn't identify an Xbox or Playstation in a lineup nowadays.

Christmas doesn't officially end until 20 days after Christmas Eve, here. Most people are off work until the 7th. We didn't have a tree this year because of our cats, but if we did, we'd probably take it down on Tuesday, even though it's officially a week early.

This holiday has been very bad. I am never a fan of Christmas and New Years, but usually it turns out better than I fear. This year, not so much.

I want an XBox One <3

We are a gaming family. We have a Wii but it barely gets played (I should probably sell it). The 360 is our primary console but as I said, I want the newwwww shiny XBox.

When my kids were younger I used to play video games with them at times, but they're older now and their games are beyond my comprehension anymore.

I did this. But I only baked it long enough to soften it so I could slice it open length wise. Then I baked the 2 halves until yummy.

I think I'm in the generation of gamers. I'm either a Millennial or a Gen Xer. Idk. My birth year is on the cut off. On one hand I don't have much in common with GenXers but then I also feel the same about Millennials. I feel like I'm more cautious about social media but still very active with it. But then I'm a hard core gamer. New tech/platforms are easy for me and second nature. I don't marvel at the iPhone, I wonder why it's not making me breakfast in the morning

Me too. I had SNES when I was younger. NES too, but I got that after the SNES and only because it was cool and I liked duck hunt and Mario.

I didn't do much PC gaming. By the time I got into using the PC I discovered IRC and spent all my time there.

I remember when we got pong when I was a kid - that was my first video game and it's funny I was really good at it. Simple game. As they've gotten more complicated, I've gotten worse at them. haha

We aren't really a gaming family. My kids are too little and my husband only plays the GTA series or RDR on PS3.

I have mostly hand held consoles that I use. Gameboy Advance SP and Nintendo 3DS.
