T says we can do away with her "mindfulness" handouts and do a trauma workbook together.

I looked on Amazon and there are a ton of trauma workbooks.

Which trauma workbook(s) have you found helpful?

Have any of you used this one, by Copeland? Does it have you write about abusive experiences?

Healing the Trauma of Abuse: A Women's Workbook: Mary Ellen Copeland MS MA, Maxine Harris PhD: 9781572241992: Amazon.com: Books

I have not worked through any trauma workbooks... but if you do this, I'd love to hear how it goes, and if you find it helpful!

Good luck, and I hope someone can share their experience with the workbook...
Thanks for this!

I have not done any workbooks, just handouts from t's. I'd be interested in hearing what you think of it if you do one.

I've begun to work through this one, I like the therapeutic model behind it....I said I wanted to use one and my T was very happy about this.....a big step for me......and so he recommended this. I liked the look of it....

Finding Life Beyond Trauma: Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to Heal from Post-Traumatic Stress and Trauma-Related Problems (New Harbinger Self-Help Workbook): Victoria M. Follette, Jacqueline Pistorello, Steven C. Hayes: 9781572244979: Amazon

I have found it really hard going, mostly because I struggle with my inner thoughts and voicing them....I really need to spend more time on it with my therapist, we always end up side tracked though. And it would take FOREVER it feels if we do it all in therapy.

The idea was great, mine actually, however the execution has been lacking......I think I give up or avoid to easily!
Thanks for this!

The current one that people are talking about is Seeking Safety, but I have not used it enough to say anything responsible at this point.

My "bible" when I was doing trauma work was Judith Herman's Trauma and Recovery. It is not a workbook, but she does lay out a set of steps for recovery that matched my process. And she just was the leading expert in the field. A few more have joined, but she still stands out.

I'm working through Life After Trauma with my therapist and it's really good.

Seeking Safety is actually a program designed to be done in groups, for individuals with both addiction and trauma. I've done the group and it's really good, but I would not recommend the workbook on it's own. Some of the material can be triggering.

Thanks, split image for adding comments. That book is being used for trainings where I work, but it is not given directly to clients. Thanks for the warning about it.
