Sorry to hear things are rough right now. I too well remember going from crisis to crisis with my sister. Exhausting.
Thanks for this!

Hmm I think it's best if I excuse myself and go to bed. Night couchies.

I only play brass because marching with a double reed is usually not done (and I did try to convince them to let me try - just think about the lyrics to 76 trombones -" each bassoon having its big fat say"). Unfortunately my demonstration demolished a couple of reeds right off the bat so I did not get very far.

LOL. Probably before the day where they put all the double reeds in the front pit playing xylophone I'd guess. All the double reeds in my son's band are in the pit or they're drum majors. But actually, his band is known for having fantastic double reed solos in their shows. People always wonder how year after year the band director manages to have the best double reed players in the state.

Here's a taste of what double reeds can do for a marching band. This is their 2012 winning show. Oboe and English Horn about midway through:

I miss marching bands they aren't as big out where I live now as they were when I grew up. I grew up next to the high school and could hear them practice all the time, loved it!

Night, couch. I'll be back tomorrow. It's going to be a rough day so you might find me hiding between the cushions. Hope everyone gets some decent shut eye.

My team at work is having a valentine's day potluck tomorrow, I of course have to be an overachiever and am baking a cheesecake tonight. Next time I get a grandiose idea like this for work I'm going to buy a box mix one instead. Would take up a lot less of my evening!! ah, but it's going to taste really good though......

What kind of reed does a bagpipe have?

Did they win? That was a humongous band. I liked the geishas.

I didn't realise Bach had written so much marching-band music.

Now that I'm going to be volunteering with GS I'm looking for a new guitar. Also, I love to sing. My son plays bass, guitar, tenor/bari sax, keyboard... I am thinking about asking my sister if she still plays it, if she doesn't, see if she'll let me have it again. I sorta want to play it again.
Kinda the same thing happened to me with the accordion

T asked a couple of weeks ago whether I'd mind it if he were to come to a concert with my choir in March. That made me very pleased, and very surprised, because I sort of imagined that he had a policy of staying away from events that his patients were involved in. I don't know whether he'll be going or not, and it's unlikely that I'd see him there if he did go since the venue is a largish cathedral, but it just feels good that he is considering it, as if I might be able to contribute positively to his life, in some small way. We have (partly) similar tastes in music and I know that this is music he likes. (Bach, Mass in B minor. Some of the best music ever written, in my opinion.)

School just closed because of how cold it is.. Wasn't expecting that, a delay for sure but not a closing. My kids are going to be so bummed with miss out valentines party. We start our mid-winter break early!
