Mast - I didn't mean to sound like I was giving advice. I know you have a different kind of relationship with H, and I don't want to judge that either way. I just know that you forget/don't see/ignore the fact that you are just as important as anyone else.

So along with my fever, and the tons of white crap headed our way, I also get my mother. I know, I know, I can say no. Sometimes I just feel compassion towards her and I know how scared of storms she is. I just don't think any 85 yr old woman should have to be scared and alone when there are other options. If she was some stranger down the street I would do it. If she was MIL, I'd do it. She is an abusive old coot, but my kids are home for the weekend and I'm sick so there's a buffer.

Traveling so D can interview for a full tuition, room and board scholarship at a small private college. Unforunately I am sick. We are seeing S on this trip also and I am not much fun. Unfortunate timing.

H has left to go to a party, and I am playing a computer game and drinking a very, very nice beer (a barley wine style ale from Anchor Brewing co in San Francisco).

Sharing the recliner with my dog, writing in my journal, reading a book, and watching mindless television.

To save my sanity- I told the kids they had to nap today. H was supposed to be home by now, but he isn't even in our state yet. Stupid snow everywhere! Hopefully, the kids will lay down and just be quiet for awhile. So, now.. its me, the dog, my laptop and college basketball. I think I will go get some m&ms to make things sweeter.

On the up side, he's very obviously special needs, so I don't think anyone was too shocked. I hope none of the little girls pick on my daughter over it though...

Yeah, it's subsidized. I can't pull off income requirements for non subsidized. And I need a home before I can go back to work so I can get a respite provider for my son.
I've never heard of being able to rent with just a credit card. I wish. I could cover the rent and I have food stamps so I'd be alright but they require that you provide payslips and prove three times the rent as income and the like. It's a nightmare.

We sold our home a few years ago and have been renting a beautiful place on a lake. I have to say, after years and years of home ownership, I love renting. I love calling the landlord when things get broken, instead of having to foot some bill or have H find the time to do it. We're getting older, and that is such a benefit. Also, the yard and landscaping is included. They want us to sign a new lease soon, H was thinking of asking them to throw in snow removal. The plan is to purchase a large RV when H retires. Neither of us likes hotels, and neither of us flies, but we want to see the country so that's our best option. Plus we can bring animals with us. Win Win.

I would love to go back to renting. Home ownership is expensive and stressful at times. I fully expect once the kids get out of the house, we'll at least downsize. I love the idea of a townhome situation where there is on-site maintenance as part of your property purchase, no yard to mess with, perhaps some amenities like a pool. Might be the best of both worlds. Unfortunately, most of those kinds of properties are two-story which is not an option for us with my husband's physical handicap. Limits us a bit. Your lakeside property sounds wonderful.
Thanks for this!

Do you have juice? I don't drink straight wine. It's gotta be mixed. I'll drink almost any type of mixed hard drink. Last night it was John Dalys.

I need to be alone, badly. Yet I can't. It's nap time for toddler, but baby girl is awake... And all I want to do is go for a walk...maybe bring my camera.

And see, I just posted on my FB that I already did the grocery shopping and came home and immediately put my pj's back on. Hubby did the laundry (we split things up which is marvelous). I fully intend to do absolutely nothing the rest of the day except make supper later on. My dust can wait.
Thanks for this!

Hmm I'll take it. Powerade and wine sounds disgusting, but I'm sure it'll do the trick.
