Just got back from yet another T. Call her Twiggy.
She listened and asked only a few questions, but they were simple and relevant without being challenges. I did almost all the talking.

Outcome: I want to see Madame T again - just once - and it doesn't matter that it probably won't do any good.

My objection is more to the word mindfulness rather than the idea of paying attention to what you do.

And there's my vocabulary lesson of the day. lol

Hi couch-

after very lazy weekend I finally got off my butt and practiced driving to a new area alone. That is a big deal for me with my driving phobia. Finally, good news to report to T.

All I want is a normal relationship with food. *sigh* something so normal and everyday shouldn't be this hard. (thanks for listening just needed to say it outloud).

My son was looking out his bedroom window one night and there was a bunny in the yard right outside his window. He said he thought to himself: "Aww. Cute bunny." At that very moment, an owl swooped down and grabbed the rabbit and flew off. His next thought was, "Poor bunny" and then, "COOL!!" Wildlife at its finest.

We have occasional coyotes around here too.

Ha! Love the bunny story.

There seems to be an explosion of coyotes in my neighborhood, which is pretty densely populated by people. This is twice in a month where one ran in front of my car.

I see coyotes, javelinas, and roadrunners sometimes in the parking lot where I work. One night there was a family of javelinas wandering through, they look scary and I suddenly became besties with a group of strangers coming out of the building next to mine lol. I think the coyotes and the roadrunners are beautiful though. eta: I almost forgot, one evening driving home from work on the back roads, a rather majestic owl swooped down low near my car - total awesomeness.

A red tailed hawk picked off a squirrel from a grassy area next to the local playground in my neighborhood a few years back. I live in the middle of a pretty dense urban area, so this occurrence was a big enough deal that it was featured on the neighborhood blog and the hawk even had it's own hashtag "#_____parkhawk" on social media for a few days.

Then there was the morning I walked outside to see three huge vultures perched on my neighbor's roof. Yikes. Talk about creepy. It was in October and at first I thought they were just really odd Halloween decorations. Nope. The real deal.

We live about a mile south of a major lake (maybe not even quite that far), so while we are in a completely residential area, we apparently are just close enough to the lake to get some interesting wildlife at times.

We used to have a huge beaver dam on a creek just around the corner, but they built a neighborhood around it. I think they relocated the beavers somewhere but I'm not sure where.

Oh, the roadrunners. There used to be a group of them that would wander around right outside my classroom window years ago. My students and I spent lots of time spying on them.

Love wildlife stories!

The other night I opened my sliding glass door to hear the local pack howl and yip and screech--they were way closer than I've ever heard them before, they sounded like they were in the parking lot. But I enjoy listening to them.

Then my neighbor goes out on her porch and starts banging pots and pans. Local wildlife authorities seem to encourage "hazing" to keep them away from populated areas. Not working!

I'm tired. Eh. So what else is new? I think I've been tired for a year now.

I'm hoping to get baby to sleep soon. Then I'm hoping my husband wants to go play in his room. That way I can go to bed or at least be alone. lol

I live in an urban area but near a large park. We often get raccoons and possums in my yard. My two 75-80+ lb dogs whine on the porch until I come out to see what the problem is and then they stand behind me and bark like fools. They won't even bark at the intruders until I come out and they can stand behind me.

We also get hawks and owls. And once an extremely confused coyote.

We get a lot of jackrabbits and coyotes. Deer, moose, and Cougars have been spotted less often.

My neighbor is a landscaper and has a huge man-made pond in his backyard that attracts all manner of reptile (not my favorite) and amphibian. In the summer the bullfrogs start their mating calls. OMG! They are loud. He and I were talking one day and I mentioned having run into a small snake in my garage (yuck) and I had noticed several small dead ones in our back yard. I asked him if there were more snakes than usual this year. He said no more than usual; they are always whipping them up in yards around here when they are weed eating. (Not really what I wanted to hear. I truly hate snakes.) Then . . . he asked me what the snake in my garage looked like. Apparently he has one that leaves by his pond in his back yard that is about 6 ft. long. I DIDN'T need to know that!!

You should also see the creative dancing I do when I come face to face with an opossum in my garage. Rather humorous to see I'm guessing, but scared the heck out of me.
Thanks for this!

My grandma used to chase the raccoons away with a broom.

Sigh. I miss her.

Might be a good plan but your dogs don't sound any braver than mine. My husband was walking her one early morning about a month ago. Suddenly, she took off running, pulled my husband to the ground (he's on crutches). He couldn't see her; she's a Scottish terrier and it was dark, but he could hear her suddenly running back towards him . . . and then past him, being chased by a rabbit! Stupid, chicken dog! She waited for him on the front porch.

The couple we went out with last night, a couple years ago there was a gila monster in their garage, their daughter walked right past it not seeing it at first and then freaked out. I don't remember how they got it out of their garage! Oh, and we had a corn snake in our backyard a few years back. Hubby wouldn't let me pick it up. haha he didn't believe me that it wasn't poisonous and that I knew how to handle snakes. (one more example of how he thinks I'm stupid meh) he made me lift it with a stick and put it over the wall.
Thanks for this!

Oh yeah, neighbor has some sort of big old lizard that habitates his pond, too. Forgot about that one. I've only seen him once thank goodness. I just don't do reptiles. They give me the willies.

My mother actually chased a prowler down the alley with a broom in the middle of the night when I was little. That's a whole other story of legend in our family. Mom can be feisty when she's protecting her youngins.
