A couple leftovers from the last couch:

Wikid, there are a lot of good vegan cheesecake recipes out there, either tofu or nut based. Mostly tofu. None of which are compatible with reducing diets unfortunately. A couple years I was at a potluck where someone brought a vegan cheesecake from a local restaurant. The sweet rich memory lingers on...

I don't think it was on the anniversary though maybe, but when I lived in Virginia a pizza place made square pizzas. I got on because "pies r square". I know that had a mathematical meaning but in retrospect I forget what it is. Math is not one of my strong points. Puns, however, are.
Thanks for this!

ok...don't all start jumping on the couch at once.
I think I killed the couch!

I'm gonna start with an OMG/WTF/UGH/GRRR. Yea, those are technical terms.

I am set up to see this nutritionist in April to help an ever increasing weight battle I am having. I get a form from them in today's mail. It has the usual medical questionnaire, a food diary form and the usual stuff. Then there's this lengthy psychological form. Asking questions like: Three words that come to mind when you think about your childhood. Yea. "none of your business" oh wait, that's 4 words. How about ***** OFF NOW! I cannot put my psych history on a form. I don't want to talk about it. This is why I do not T. I specifically picked this doc because he's vegan. Arg. Most nutritionists would make a big deal about my vegan lifestyle. UGH.

I worry if I write Not Applicable, it will make him push on that more, or make him think "yup she's a nutjob" Plus PTSD is on my heath record, and he's in the same office as my primary, so i'm thinking he's gonna see that.

I may just have to cancel it out and think of another idea.

You guys filled up the couch while I was working! No fair!!!

In response to this post from NowhereUSA:

I've got a weird philosophy - I don't think a job has to be personally fulfilling. I mean, it doesn't mean we can't look for something better or that we shouldn't, just that I think we have a better chance of being personally fulfilled if we have money in the bank, food on the table, and a roof over our heads.

I guess I'd counsel at - what do you want to do? Then look for jobs in that field and spruce up the resume. From personal experience, when money becomes a desperate necessity, you end up at a job doing whatever the crap you gotta do to get a paycheck. Meanwhile, if you already have a job, even if it sucks, you have the benefit of being choosy.

And, you said you're a student. I'd imagine the expectation is to eventually move into a career?
I'm 41 years old, a single mom to a 17 and 6 year old, had this job for 8 years but there's no room for advancement without a degree. Back to school for a bachelor's (doesn't matter what it's in, could be underwater basket weaving!) to get a promotion at this place. That will only net me a 10% increase above my current salary, which will not begin to pay off the bachelor's. And that position has a HUGE turnover because it sux. So. . .

I agree, any job is better than no job, but this job is going nowhere fast, and I'm tired of settling. Thanks for your reality check, though, I need to do all the checks and balances.

Wiki, I'd be tempted to write "dysfunctional but normal" and move on. I'm fat, I had a rough childhood, but I'm not fat because I'm compensating for it. I just really love to eat!!

I suppose hormonal issues, thyroid, etc. have been ruled out and that's why you're going to a nutritionist?
Thanks for this!

I'm 63lbs overweight...it's pretty obvious I have a weird eating disorder thing, although what I don't know. I'm not hundreds of pounds overweight, nor am I starving, nor do I binge eat (unless it's my annual bag of sour patch kids every Easter). I take steroids for an immune issue, and I am on insulin because I lost most of my pancreas. I haven't been able to exercise much all winter because the weather's been awful. I like to swim, but because of gigantic boob issues I can't wear a suit. I do wear a t-shirt and shorts, but I'm really self conscious. I know, every fat chick has a thousand excuses...so do I.

Some studies show that you are more likely to be hired for a new job while you are still employed. Employers are less likely to hire you if you are already unemployed.

New couch! Thanks, wikid.

Re forms for nutritionist, can't you just leave those questions blank?

So I went to the movies this afternoon, and saw a really good film. I wonder whether it will be exported - in some ways it was quintessentially Swedish and I'm not sure how well that would translate. But I liked it very much indeed.

Also, this morning's T session: after my previous session, on Tuesday, I was an unhappy mammoth, because T said things that made me disappointed and rather sad. And I managed to tell him that today, and as usual he was unruffled and accepting of my feelings, and also seemed genuinely to want to know why I felt like that. So we talked about it. And somehow it slipped out that I like him rather a lot. Which I had not planned on saying. His reaction to that was, again, unfazed - and he didn't even seem to be disgusted. And we talked briefly about that, too. And then I mentioned that I expected to feel like a monumental fool after leaving my session, which made him surprised, and so we talked for a bit about foolishness and what that means for me. My session ran over with a couple of minutes, which is unusual, but I am grateful that he allowed that. As I said on the previous couch, it was very intense, and it feels like we covered a lot of ground.

The psych part is 5 pages long. Hard to just ignore that, especially when there is a post-it attached that says "Please fill out completely".

Yea...I'm in menopause and have had a lot of surgery. My weight on the scale is huge, but I have so much dense scar tissue in my body that it's hard to tell what's fat and what's not. lol

And, in all fairness, when I have my boobs done I'll be down a good 15lbs.

Split it 50/50? Could benefit both of us!

I woke up too late to tame it down. I don't have curly hair either, it's straight but very thick. It does this little out flip at the end to that drives me bonkers. I should travel with my hair straightener lol :/

What was the movie? I love foreign films. I like to watch them with sub-captions, because I absolutely hate when the lips don't match the words.

Yes, 50/50! Mine is very fine but then it is also falling out because of Topamax and also Vit. D deficiency (sigh), so I will take any poof I can get! It's not noticeable to anyone but me, but it's getting frustrating. I do have a ton of little baby hairs growing in, tho, so I guess that's good.

Just remember that YOU are hiring THEM to provide a service, and you don't owe them any more info. than you are comfortable providing. I would go with very, very short answers where "necessary," and it's definitely ok to leave some blank (no matter what they ask for). It's also ok to say you don't feel comfortable discussing some of it if they ask for more info. during your first appt.!

It's called Cirkeln ("The Circle") and is based on a YA novel by the same name, which has been translated into English. Cirkeln (2015) - IMDb
