My therapist asked if I'd be interested in a guided imagery tape from 'health journeys'.

In another post there was talk about different guided imagery tapes. So I thought I'd open a thread where we can share which guided imagery tapes work for us.

Anyone else have from 'health journeys'? (Sister, you've mentioned that you do. So there's one vote for 'health journeys' guided imagery tapes )

Withit,

I LOVE HEALTH JOURNEYS. The recordings saved my life this past winter when i was going through a most difficult time. Some mornings i would listen to a tape twice in a row, just to be able to get up and out. There are several, I have two favorites--I'll look up the exact titles tomorrow. They can be downloaded in MP3 format if you prefer and right onto I-tunes. You should definitely get them.

Sister, I'm so glad you mention downloads, that is sooo convenient!

I'll wait to hear which ones you have. My t said there are specific ones for fibro. And I guess other situation-specific tapes.

Here's a free one you can do at your computer. It's called Secret Garden and it's really nice: www.meditainment.com

Okay, sorry I took so long to get back--swamped with work. i use two recordings that i ordered and dowlnloaded from www.healthjourneys.com

The first one is simply caled "Relieve Stress"-Health Journeys. It contains four sections: 2 general stress/anxiety relieving guided imagery sessions that promote grounding and getting in touch with your body. The third is a walking meditation that I love, it's only about 10 or 12 minutes long. Finally are affirmations that you can listen to at any time and are good for all of us, I venture a guess.

My favorite recording is clled "Healing Trauma-PTSD." It is a beautiful guided imagery through your heart. You probably should have a T to do this imagery because it calls for an image, that I think is your therapist, to accompany you on your journey. I love this tape. It has helped me tremendously and the images change over time. I am amazed by its power. The imagery is followed by affirmations, again which can be listened to any ol time.

You can either order on-line or by mail. They will send you MP3 format to your e-mail after a day or so or you can have the CD's sent to your home.

I recommend this source! Enjoy. (There are all sorts of other audios designed to help with every possible issue you can imagine).

Sister

P.S. Almeda,
Guided imagery is a method of getting in touch with your inner self where you close your eyes, relax, and call forth an image. Usually the image is supplied by an outside source such as a clinician or an audiotape of some sort. Usually it is used for relaxation but my T has used it to help me with inner child work. I am a visual person so it works for me. My husband hates it, so go figure. I think the voice on the audio has to be compatible with something you find comforting or it won't work.

Thanks girls! My T does biofeedback and I did it once at his office. He offered it again last week but I needed to chat. I wish we could do one session talking and another just biofeedback...it is very relaxing.

I saved the free on on my book mark Echoes! I started listening and can tell I will like it. I had to study last night so I'm going to try it later today at lunch. I have my earphones!

Great Thread! I have used a Bellaruth guided imagery for a couples years to help me fall asleep when I can't relax. I love it though most of the time my mind wanders and I don't hear a lot of what she is saying. I hadn't ever looked at the website so thanks for posting that. The CD that I have and would recommend to anyone is called Healthful Sleep.

Lemon, the one I bought from www.wholeperson.com called "Warm" does that to me too. There is a long silence in it where I just float away. I love it.
