My cat is a "magpie" too-- he steals earrings and necklaces and I find them all over the place!!

My kitty will also play fetch. If I'm on PC he will drag over a whole wand teaser for us to play with! Or a single toy, twist tie, whatever strikes him as fun!

Hey BPA - could you get him something like a kiddie plastic pool and put some dirt/sand in it and let him dig/bury in that? It would be a bit messy - but handled with sweeping (I have done it in wet icy winter with a dog I had that needed to dig/bury and could't go outside much one horrible winter because of all the ice)

For the first year of her life, a shiny metal tea strainer was our raccoons best friend. She took it everywhere. Ate with it, slept with it, climbed up and down stuff clutching it in one hand. God forbid you tried to take it. Shed wail like a baby. Then one day she ditched it and never touched it again....

That's funny! I loose things when I'm gone and he hops up on dressers, counters & stuff and knocks stuff off with his paw. I've watched other cats do it on youtube - and it's like they all do it the same way. Anyway, once he gets it on the ground, he bats it around like it's a junebug or something. Anything little and light. So.. I lose things that have ended up no telling where because of all his batting things around the house.

Unfortunately, my kitty likes not only shiny bug-like objects but the real deal as well. Too many bugs with wings or legs torn off have been found around the apartment. Sometimes I wish he'd just kill them not torture them. Especially centipedes. Too many legs to tear off in good fun.

My cat knocks stuff off of dressers or shelves when he wants food or to go out and I won't let him in the middle of the night.

Hi, couch.

Been a little while since I was on. I had C on Monday morning. Then came home and took a nap (since I was at CVS late the night before). Then was at CVS that night. Have C Tuesday moning. Took another nap in the afternoon, then reported to work that evening. Now I am home and not tired (think I took too long of a nap between C and CVS). It is almost 1am and I am wide awake. I have to leave to go to C's at 7:15am. I need to shower in the morning as well. I wonder if I will get any sleep tonight? I need to stop taking naps in the afternoon because I can't do that once school is back in. But I can sleep in later once school is back in, since I am only 10 minutes away from work and don't have to be there until 9:15. Have to see how it all plays out.

My older kitty is currently trying to open the door of my room. I shut her out because she can't eat tonight (she's being spayed in the morning) and she is pretty much acting like the cat in Growly's youtube clip

Google can only know what it is told. It is just as good at spreading lies as truth. (And that applies to most of the internet.)

My cat is Really big - tall and long (Ragdoll is the largest breed of cat). Anyway, when he wants food, he just corrals me like a sheepdog corrals sheep. I stand up, or walk out of my bedroom, and he bangs his body up against my legs, then walks across in front of me, and bangs on the other side, back and forth until he gets me to the laundry room where he eats. He's real fast, and it's amazing how good he is at corralling me.

He knocks stuff off dressers and other flat surfaces just for fun

My cat is a bit too lazy to go to the effort of knocking stuff off for fun. He will wrestle with the dogs when he is a little bored. He adores his dogs. The two older ones respect his authority -but the puppy is a menace and the cat is being a lot more patient (or he is just old) with puppy shenanigans than I expected.

One of my cats likes to jump up and swipe magnets off of the refrigerator. This is a game my son taught him years ago that they would play together, and now he still does it by himself and it's been a long time since he learned it!

Thanks for sharing your vaca, Artemis.

I am feeling discouraged this morning, a "what's the point" feeling, a sad, little, old all alone feeling, had to look it up on a chart as I couldn't quite place it. No time for a good cry though and I don't know if it would help anyway.

So, I wondered instead where all of you would go on a vacation if you could pick anywhere?

I think I'd go to Teotihuacan in Mexico and then to the coast. I'd explore the Temples of Sun and Moon and sleep on the sunny beach. I love Mexican food, and would tour the local cities architecture and soak in the culture. I sent my husband there once as a birthday gift to visit a friend teaching English there.

The dynamics between your animals sound like a lot of fun to watch. No doubt the cat will have that puppy trained in no time.

Well i got back to work this morning and am feeling a bit overwhelmed by new expectations of the olympian team which i recently joined and haven't even finished training for yet. We are expected to sit and yjack with the reps we've been assigned to help 3 times a week and I've got 2 assigned to me already. I think i may withdraw from the program as that much time not taking calls will impact my own stats. Ugh. I am back wanting to come in do only the job they pay me to do the olympian thing doesn't increase my pay, only my responsibilities. Am i wrong to feel this way, when the sup hasn't even trained us yet on what is expected? Sigh. I wanna go back on vaca.

It's hard to pick any one specific place. I have actually just booked a kind of dream holiday - a week's safari in the Serengeti in a couple of months' time. That's something I have been wanting to do since I was very young and it feels kind of unreal that I'll be doing it now...

Your feelings aren't unreasonable at all. It's very common for employers to take advantage of employees this way. I suggest that you ask for a modest increase to compensate for your increased and supervisory responsibilities. Much of the time, the only way employees get paid what they deserve is by asking. I always ask. It usually works out well. And when I've had coworkers told "no" when they asked, I adivsed them to ask for something equivalent, such as an extra few paid days off per year, which worked well.

Right now? I'd just like to go to my favorite Dude Ranch in Colorado.. Deer Valley Ranch. Took my kids there four years in a row, and those were honestly the best four weeks ever (one week a year). I love horseback riding, and loved being completely separated from phone, computer, TV, etc. Lots of wonderful memories of those weeks.

I'm either a mountain or a beach kind of person. Doesn't have to be anyplace fancy, just beautiful and peaceful. My husband is in the running for employee of the year this year. He's won it before. The award is a week stay at one of the Four Seasons properties in North America. Last time we spent a week in Boston which I loved; I'm such a history buff so I was in heaven. But this time . . . IF he should win . . . I'm thinking of someplace more resortie like Vail or something. My husband can't walk like he could last time, so something low-key and restful sounds delightful. One can dream!

Afternoon, couch.

I finally got to bed about 2am last night (this morning). I woke up at 7, to throw on clothes and leave for C's. I took him to the zoo today. I still had free lorakeet and cockatiel feeding punches on my membership card, so we fed them. I also still had giraffe feedings I hadn't used, so we fed them as well. The giraffes are usually out past the feeding platform when I go, so when I saw they were near it today, I had to feed them. It tickled. C and I also rode the train twice. The train takes you into some animal areas and you see animals you can only see on the train ride (like the camels and simitar-horned oryx and ostriches and the lemurs). We had a packed full of fun morning. Back to C's tomorrow morning, no clue what we will do tomorrow yet. Maybe a movie. Yestreday, he had a dental appointment that I had to take him to. Monday, we just chilled. I think a movie would be an idea for tomorrow. The theater by him has a free kid movie every Thursday at 10. Get him out of the house.

Now, I am just relaxing before heading into CVS tonight. Still need to clean my car out before school starts, but I am off on Saturday, so I may just wait until then. Do it in the morning when it is not so hot.
Thanks for this!
