I do remember one woman stopping to lecture my mother about it, though.
I spent 2 summers working at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon when I was in college. It used to scare me silly watching kids running willy-nilly way too close to where they could get hurt or worse. The parents who had their kids on those leashes, I wished I could have given them medals! I did thank a few of them for doing that. Very smart in a place like that.

Yum!! That sounds fabulous! Broccoli and cauliflower are two of the only 3 veggies I can stand - I also like green beans. My spiritual self wants to be vegetarian, but I haven't yet figured out how to do that when for the most part I do not like vegetables....

The only vegetable I cannot stand is lima beans. To me it's like biting into a vacuous, tasteless emptiness devoid of all redeeming characteristics.

I feel very strongly about lima beans.

The answer is organic veg like celery and carrots, with hummus. Then organic cauliflower. But not organic broccoli - its just weird!

Not to be a pompous snob about this but American cuisine is rather horrendous when it comes to treating vegetables right -- if you can, try vegetables as part of Asian (or other cuisines which use vegetables + decent spices) dishes.

It's pretty much the only stuff I can eat at restaurants (I grew up vegetarian and so, have the opposite problem of having a hard time eating meat).

I forgot about carrots. I don't mind those either, raw or cooked both are good. And I do like hummus. I keep trying raw broccoli every now & again, but yuk. Just tried it again yesterday, matter of fact. Didn't like it. But steamed with a little pepper, yum. I need to figure out how to just do this already....

We could eat our weight in broccoli around here. If I'd make it more often, they'd eat their weight in fried okra (I'd rather go somewhere that makes it and let them deal with the mess.) I have one son who detests beans of all types -- how is that possible while living in Texas? Where did I go wrong?. I hate lima beans, but butter beans are awesome, particularly baked with pork chops -- one of my favorite meals. We eat lots of salads, particularly in the summer when it is just too hot to turn on the oven and heat up the house.

Maybe that's the problem - I haven't tasted them prepared correctly!! Time to be a little more adventurous in my cuisine....

My parents used to set the timer, and if I didn't finish my vegetables before it dinged... um yeah. Is this.... whoa..... I cannot believe I never put two and two together before now. How could I not have realized that before? I thought I was just stupid for not liking stuff that is... good for...

ETA for god sakes. I'm 53. It's time to grow up and get over that ****. Sorry for being a downer, couch.

I don't like summer squash...blech. My father used to make this horrendous squash casserole when I was growing up. Thank god they didn't try to make me eat it.

I also don't like olives, but I just discovered that they are a fruit. Huh.

Yes, this. Vegetables taste sooo much better in Indian, Thai, and Chinese food. And probably others that I am not thinking of right now...
