Hey, gostryter, I went back after 9 years :-) I had to wait a couple weeks though for my appointment and that gave me w-a-a-y-y-y too much time to think about things. Hope things go well for you Wednesday. You seeing someone you "know" or someone new?

Dear Gostryter,

I can imagine that was a difficult decision to make! I had a ten-year break from counseling, and I know for me, it was with some trepidation that I finally went back to counseling. In my case, I was really thankful I went back. I met such a wonderful counselor, and really made wonderful progress. Hopefully you'll have a good experience when you have your appointment, and in the long run, you'll be glad you went. I'll be thinking of you and sending good wishes your way.

Take care,
ErinBear

((((((perna & erinbear)))))))

this is someone new...my job has an Employee Assistance Program that provides six free sessions....i made an appt two weeks ago....got to the office and got scared...i left!!

i had a BAD night that night and went to my medical doctor the next morning...he's supposed to be setting up a referal but said to try the EAP again...so i am....

i'm just SO worried! i'll be devistated if she turns all Dr. Phil on me!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't need tough love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i need help - i need someone to be on my side!

i know i'll need a few good swift kicks in butt eventually - but i'm hurting to much right now....i'm living to close to the edge.

when i was in therapy before (on and off from age 14 to about 20) i didn't get as much out of it as i could have...i got what i needed at the time.

but geez - what perspective from teens to 32!! i'm so scared i'm opening myself up for hurt

I was so scared when I went to EAP. That was 3years ago. But I was in so much pain, I didn't even have the ability to question who would be right for me, I didn't know what it was all about or what I wanted - I'd never been before. I just desparately grabbed what was offered. EAP should listen to you and give you a chance to tell them what you need in a therapist and then give you a recomendation within your healthcare plan. Sounds like you've got a clear idea about what you need. Try and be brave enough to go and speak up about it. *hugs*

IMHO, there is no one who needs a Dr. Phil type or a good swift kick. I hope that your visit doesn't turn out like that for you.

We all need someone on our side. i don't wanna!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you find that. If not, keep looking!!!
