BY, close. When I don't know how to express myself or think the English words have been overused I express myself in French, sometimes it helps.

I don't know. My t says this phrase, "our work together", but then she also says "I just show up, you do all the work." I think that putting up with ME is work in itself, though.

I ate my first real meal this evening since I got my tooth pulled! And it tasted FABulous!! Went to our favorite little hole-in-the-wall mexican restaurant, and I even stuck with my meatless thing. Got cheese enchiladas and rice. And a margarita, of course. It tasted SO good. I still have to chew on the other side of my mouth, but that's a small price to pay for enjoying an actual meal. Mmmmmm!
Thanks for this!

I kinda like it when my T says stuff like that. It makes me feel less alone.

Took the eight year old to the park after school today. They did up the playground and it's amazing. In my defense I was not the only adult playing as hard as the kids...

Like so many things they say, it is not meant to be taken literally.

I would hate it if one of mine said it.

I'm so happy for you! Sounds like fun!

We used to live in Benicia, CA a number of years ago, when my son was little, and they had this HUGE play structure that was made out of sturdy railroad ties, it filled up a big area of the park and had slides and ladders and little turret like things and bridges and all kinds of stuff and was big enough for the parents too, I used to have so much fun playing on that with my son.

I just wondered if it was Jean Paul Sartre or Albert Camus or some such.

That's a pretty common reason for stopping.
But if you told him a different one, then obviously he wasn't listening!

Mine unfortunately has used that term a time or two -- so yeah, I basically try not to throw up and add it to the list of a whole lot of other cliches she uses.

That reminds me -- I wonder if someone's come up with a therapy version of ******** bingo?
Thanks for this!

My T says together and I really like it. In fact she said it tonight and it helped me calm some.

Ooh, how about a therapy drinking game? Bring a bottle of "water" (=vodka) and take a swig every time a cliche is uttered!
Thanks for this!

I could go for that, except my "water" would be a fine tequila.

Of course, as much as I love her, I must admit I'd have to call a cab to get home.

The idea of the therapist thinking they get to say themselves and work and together at me makes me nearly homicidal at the woman. She has not tried it in a while.
Interesting that it makes some people feel less alone. For me, I don't think she does any work and the idea of her thinking she is together with me is so presumptuous and insulting that I practically sputter.

Kind of reminds me of the stereotypical mafia movie and "this thing of ours."

Clueless ex-potential T3: I think you must know that these issues take time. Otherwise you would have resolved them. Sorry our work did not feel helpful. Good luck.

Um, where did I say or even imply I was stopping because my issues weren't resolving fast enough??
Um, you did way better than me. The first 4 therapists I saw, I just never went back!!! Didn't even tell them why. Not the best things to do, but still...The Couch - CXII : The Tao of Couchies
