Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you feel like a nut... sometimes, well.... which kind?

---------

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out of the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("t") - we speak from experience....

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Every Couch should start with a Satchel Paige quote. Don't look back - something might be gaining on you!

Went to post on old couch, got pleasantly surprised that there's a new couch. Time flies.

The kids are clamoring for a trip to the lake. Looks like I'm getting some sun today. Have an awesome day everyone!

Happy Sunday, couch! It is a happy one indeed for me - h and I just paid off our credit card, which was what we had to put car insurance and h's hearing aid on (it was upwards of $4,000 when we started diligently working to pay it off). We have worked very hard to not have credit card debt since our bankruptcy, and it was weighing heavily on both of us owing that. I have been thinking a lot the past few days about how hard we have both worked to get that paid off - and I think it says something about our marriage, something that I have been overlooking when one or the other of us is acting stupid. We are in this together, and that is something I really need to remember. Perhaps finally accepting my Self, Shadow and all, has led me to a deeper acceptance of his - he's not a bad person, he just gets caught up in his own complexes from time to time, and then my complexes get activated, and it's a mess for a bit, but as I learn to manage my own better.... it becomes less of an issue. The last "incident" we had, I handled it without t and I didn't even bother you guys about it. How's that for progress? I've come a huge long way in the past almost 5 years. Even since I started posting on PC I've grown a ton. And y'all have been a part of that. Thank you.

I sorted some yesterday and broke down boxes. I count it as weight watchers activity points. Light activity but still.

Eta - and just came in from a swim. I think I'm becoming part of an early Sunday afternoon crowd. I already knew one person. I asked them what time it was. I was like, "I was treading water and it was like time was standing still!" Turned out the clock had stopped. Everybody laughed, even this one cute girl off to the side. Then this cute guy off to the farther side, I told him he shouldn't spray his sunblock on his face, it can get into his orifices, he should put it on his hands then rub on face. He's like, the way my day is going...! We had a nice chat. I told him I was a comedian and just liked saying orifices. He said comedians told the truth.

Here's the Couch itself. (Was on my iPad earlier and couldn't post a pic that wasn't a thumbnail.)

Anyone know what the thing on the table is that looks like an antique fan?

This would be a good time to discuss whether it's pronounced GY-RO or YEE-RO.

Does being in ketosis make people think they're funny?

Yay, new couch! Hi couchies.
I agree with AY, that looks like a solar system thingie. Love the couch.

It's raining here, and I am bruised and hurting (metaphorically) from people's assumptions and judgements but, I am having a nice cup of tea, and it's my day off tomorrow and T, so

Hope you're all good. I've put the kettle on, and I have made scones, so help yourself. (Get the cream and jam in the right order though....)

I'm feeling overwhelmed by feelings today but my plan is to force myself into going to the gym for a brief workout and long stretching session. It will eat up the late afternoon and hopefully distract me from feeling like a black hole.

Ah...forgive an ignorant question from a former colonial, but which is the right order?

(I would guess jam first, then cream...?)
